I just got done looking at your grimiore card and you have a ton of stuff that you can do way before you should even consider getting the new expansion. Take in all that destiny offers and then when you are done with Crota and Poe, then consider buying it. By that time, you should have some money saved up and you can purchase your expansion. Believe me, the reward is so much better if you work for it. If you live in the USA, you will soon understand why "Handouts" are ruining the country.
