I have seen apparent similarities between Destiny and the Bible in general. For example:
The collapse is like the Fall of Man. The Guardians are like Christians fighting sin. The Speaker is like the Bible itself, since he is sort of like the Traveler's word, and the Bible is God's word. Also, with TTK's recent release, the Darkness closes in, but the Light fights back and wins, which is like Jesus' return. The different factions are like different theological views.
If you do not believe in Jesus, God, or that the Bible is true, please be respectful and do not post hateful comments and just make a fool of yourself. Believe what you want.
I also realize that this doesn't completely align with Destiny's lore, and you need to understand that I am making this understandable for the average Destiny player.
Have a nice day and God bless you.

Yea not so much

As a Christian, it's interesting to see how modern movie and game developers weave the elements of our faith into their productions. One thing people always look for (though few will admit it), is a savior. Regardless of who you are or what/who produces your salvation, that's a theme that all of humanity can get behind. And so it sells. Hey, I'm a christian. I'm also a pragmatist and a realist. Hahaha
-
Has anyone ever noticed that we as christians are judged by a higher standard (Basic principles of the Bible) which every non-christian seems to know but yet they don't judge themselves or others like them by the same standard? Perhaps someone can answer this observation/question in a non-derogatory and abusive manner, in which case I won't reply to you anyway. I await the intellectuals.

Post was good. Comments are aids
-
Funny how people are criticizing you just for pointing out similarities. xD
-
You're a brave man to make a topic pertaining to religion on the internet. Respect to you, and God bless you, even if I'm an agnostic who doesn't really believe in the Christian God.
-
People are so disrespectful talk trash on someone just because of his/hers beliefs. He never said anything offensive to you guys and yet you feel the need to be rude to get attention or whatever it is you seek. I really don't understand people being rude for no reason but whatever

Edited by ghostRNGR1: 10/13/2015 3:00:39 AMDid you know that in the book of Ruth in the Old Testament, Naomi calls herself MARA, which means sadness and despair. Like Mara sov
-
I have always thought this also! Many similarities man
-
Your right, destiny and the bible - both fake

Edited by Darkened Omega: 10/13/2015 12:51:50 AMYou are clearly mistaken as the Golden Age represents the great boiling pot of existence. The Fall being the straining of impurities into the perfect carbohydrate form. Finally The City & Guardians being application of marinara and delicious meatballs producing the magnificent, all powerful, and omniscient form of our true Lord...The Flying Spaghetti Monster Ramen

You could say the same about Greek mythology, on which Christianity is largely based. But anyway, get your God out of my game!
-
Oh right, like the part where Destiny is pro slavery and when the Speaker tries to give his 2 virgin daughters to the Fallen to protect two strangers
-
Yeah, Bungie loves to find inspiration from religious text. Lots from the Bible, some from the Q'uran, a couple from Norse and Pagan. They also have a thing for history, which makes me love their games even more.

Christians don't fight sin though, Christians promote it. They are one of the most hateful groups around still. I have no issue with what people believe. More power to you, and I'm sure YOU are a great person. Just because a 2,000 year old text says things, Christians promote violence, predjudice, and overall discrimination. They use Jesus as a scapegoat. Sort of how your defense/response towards people who don't share your view reads sort of like ; "don't be human and question things that you don't fully understand, because God/Jesus will abandon you for it." Although yours is not extreme, Christians use the bibles words to violently protest homosexuality or an opposing religion or view. I think if Jesus were to show up today, he'd be damn disappointed at a lot of things done in "his name" and a majority of Christians would really be the ones left out. Live a humble, honest life and the dude will like ya if he shows up. Don't know why this set me on a rant. I'm gonna stop lol. Religion has caused nearly every war, ever. I guess that the darkness started a war, so there's a correlation. This is why this topic shouldn't be put here. Go to #off-topic next time.

What's funny about this comparison is that the Traveler is very likely to turn out evil. You might want to abandon the comparison before things get really awkward.
-
If you play on 360 I would like to meet up with you because I have an online ministry and I haven't been able to find many people online to help me spread the word of god But anyways. God bless
-
Very similar, they're both fictional stories.
-
-
Thanks, but I didn't sneeze.
-
I believe in the divine, still trying to connect to it. Aslong as my soul isn't forced into reincarnation. I hear love is the way to salvation.
-
You could say that about any game, book, movie etc when its about good vs evil.
-
M8 go look at halo lol a bit more inspiration was used at that time....the game is called halo
-
Bungie has a long history of getting inspiration from many different religions. They borrowed from Christianity for Halo too.
I love how you are making a comparison, not even promoting religion and there are people jumping out of the woodwork trying to look cool and clever by slamming religion.
-
Yes very similar. Both are made up fairy tales.
-
Im an atheist but I respect your beliefs.
