Shot package and Bungie's inept balance

I want to start off by saying I'm sorry to have to post this. I am someone who has run shot package very often and would like to clue you in if you don't. I luckily got a shot package SG a few days intoTTK and there is already a BIG difference in its effectiveness pre-2.0 'balance'. I put a lot of work into leveling my party crasher to 310 because it DESERVED TO BE INFUSED, how dare you change my weapon? I didn't see Bungie remove tracking, wolf-pack, etc from the Gjallahorn when they felt we got through their piddly content too quickly in year one. Shot Package is a great perk, and allows a shotgun to function like a REAL shotgun. Chokes are real. Having to ADS to benefit adds a detraction it needs as fast movement/blinking/jumping/sliding can make someone miss. So let's see what is bad for a shot-packager to run into when attempting a kill: - Blink - slide - fast movement up close - high armor/shields Why is armor/shield a problem? Because all the shot package-capable shotguns have an EXTREMELY low rate of fire. If you jump into a group of enemies you might get one, but if the others don't SUCK HORRIFICALLY, you're dead. To be honest, I get a good number of kills, but not all are from shotguns (Thanks to no special GD) and I die all the time. I die from other people's shotguns when they're 20ft out and I hit the same guy @ 10ft and didn't even clear his shield. I die from not killing someone @ 5ft with my shot package, etc. There are plenty of super OP weapons all the time, so I have to ask, why is Bungie reacting to the most vocal, crying, wimpering little babies when they have to see fast kills from PLENTY of things all the time? Hell, no one really cared that pulse rifles suck, a weapon class that has no reason to exist at all, and they've WAY OVERBUFFED them to make them viable. (In practice, "pulse rifles" exist as fully automatic weapons with an adjustment setting, like an M16) Hell, pulse rifles went up 25% twice in a row and now you yet again debuff my shotgun. Sniper rifles are 1-shot headshots and MANY with WAY too much auto-aim but I don't hear about their massive debuffs. Fusion rifles have TREMENDOUS range and are 1-shots, but I won't rag on them too much because of their charge rate. (Though if you have half a brain you run a plan-C and switch-kill someone instantly) Bungie's weak excuse that there are plenty of "tight areas" in crucible to use a short-range nerfed shotgun is RIDICULOUS. Many of the maps are 80%+ EXTREMELY open and sniper-festy, what am I supposed to do, camp in 10-20% of a map like a troll and get tons of messages from butt-hurt children about "being a camper" because I want to run a shotgun? The Crucible is a place for hardening of Guardians and fast-paced combat. If I wanted to sit in the back of a map and pick things off with a sniper I'd do PVE..... oh wait, they already punished us for that in PVE. (Outside the Ketch on Venus for the Archon Priest) Make up your mind on how you want to screw us Bungie, and learn what balance really is. (For all the data you collect trying to be Google I don't see you telling crying babies that die to shotguns that your data shows they are incorrect and that only snipers/scout riflers at long range are able to kill shotgunners)

  • I'd also like to point out something Bungie doesn't realize is going to slight us; Bungie wants us to play ONLY the way they want us to, and doesn't even see they're conflicting. Ice Breaker? We don't want people to sit in the back of a map taking out enemies making things easy. Wait, shotguns are effective outside the range of a major's stomp? Take away shot package. (Even though the damage falloff even there is big) The PVE difference is going to be big, especially as the critical spots on many enemies are so small. So, what the hell do you guys want? Are Guardians, the fictional characters we play complete MORONS? Are they supposed to T-Rex Titan melee all their enemies? It's a recipe for the darkness to win, please stop crippling Guardians for the sake of slowing down progression and prolonging 'playability'. You have the ability to make weapons behave differently in PVP vs PVE, you've already demonstrated that, so why the drastic move?
