I was just wondering on how people felt about how shotguns have been used in the crucible. Do you guys thinks there is too much range?? I honestly think its fine even though i use both sniper and shotguns

In fact, it still doesn't feel right, even though it is longer than it has been in the past, I think it should be longer. It has to do with range drop off. It goes from 100% to ~0% way too fast. For example, if you take the map Drifter someone can pop around a doorway and kill someone even if they are backed all the way up against the rail at the edge in one hit. If you try to beat someone using a shotgun with a primary in this situation, you will land one shot/burst before dying. Is it fair? I don't know. I mean, Shotguns are designed for CQC, so you can't complain to much there. The problem is just how effective they are. They are easy to use, and very effective. This leads to Crucible being dominated by Shotguns, or at least people using them primarily. In my opinion, the best Shotgun in the game should be the Chaperone, with its ability to one hit kill with a precision hit. Any other shotgun should also require precision hits to one hit kill, but they would need to be closer because of range/spread ideally. Two hit kills with ANY shotgun is still faster than any primary (outside of exotics like the Last Word or Hawkmoon). To me, there is no reason for any shotgun to be able to one hit kill a guardian with 100% body hits. I just don't like it, its too fast. Besides, hit-punch is almost as fast, but plays into the idea that skill is more important than GUN. If this were the case (shotguns being less powerful, not killing as quickly), Fusion Rifles would instantly become better, and we would see variety in Crucible with the types of shotguns used, and also the types of guns used. Instant kills are not good for a game where generally primary weapons have extended times to kill. That's why shotguns are used so frequently. The only thing removing Shot Package will do is bring variety to perk choices. It will not balance the meta. Edit: I really didn't want to write this much. Oops.
