I was just wondering on how people felt about how shotguns have been used in the crucible. Do you guys thinks there is too much range?? I honestly think its fine even though i use both sniper and shotguns
-
There are a couple every now and then that seem ridiculous. I'm just not sure it's the shot package doing it. So many options for range. Why not just drop the max impact? But what old I I know!

I do agree that he range on some shotguns does tend to get silly, but there use I think they are totally a valid option. Especially since anyone can use one, it's not like some people are restricted from shotguns, so everyone has the opportunity
-
Shotguns - Yes Those outlier long range ones - No
-
Depends on what shot gun
-
Shotguns are pretty balanced just don't get close and accept dying close range
-
What It should of said... Is Far-Ranged shotguns fair? Heck yeah shotguns are, besides far ranged ones
-
Why can't they be like bf4 shotguns?
-
Only reason why I care for shotguns now is because I'm gonna get the chaperone on Tuesday. I thought I was never gonna get TLW part of that done. Thanks 15 kill streak with sword!
-
The only thing that bothers me is someone being able to run through my bullets from halfway across the room and instantly kill me, even though all my bullets were hitting you. Other than that I could care less what gun you use.

Edited by EragonSaphira: 10/9/2015 7:49:55 PMI'm happy about the shot package change. Sure the actual kill distance with a shotgun is much higher in real life, but this is a video game that tends to have a higher time to kill (TTK) then COD. Look at Halo: Higher TTK Less mobility No perks The shotgun in Halo had way less range yet was still incredibly powerful, even with no quick way to get close to someone Now Destiny: Shorter TTK than Halo A lot of mobility (blink, shadestep, the other jumps) Perks Add to this that even without shot package all high impact shotguns have a higher range than the one in Halo with about the same fire rate, it is even more powerful than the already strong Halo shotgun. With shotpackage this insane range is even further increased. How does this help a dynamic Meta in any way? The answer is it doesn't. Until they rework this perk to make shotguns the high risk high reward guns they want (and are supposed to be) I'm glad that this perk is going to be gone

Shotguns main problem is too tight corridor based maps and mobility options that allow you to instantly get into close range like Blink.
-
Dont really care but everyone can use them so yeah, it's fair

Stop complaining, please

Edited by GraciousEel761: 10/9/2015 9:07:15 PMI don't have a problem with the range. In fact, it still doesn't feel right, even though it is longer than it has been in the past, I think it should be longer. It has to do with range drop off. It goes from 100% to ~0% way too fast. For example, if you take the map Drifter someone can pop around a doorway and kill someone even if they are backed all the way up against the rail at the edge in one hit. If you try to beat someone using a shotgun with a primary in this situation, you will land one shot/burst before dying. Is it fair? I don't know. I mean, Shotguns are designed for CQC, so you can't complain to much there. The problem is just how effective they are. They are easy to use, and very effective. This leads to Crucible being dominated by Shotguns, or at least people using them primarily. In my opinion, the best Shotgun in the game should be the Chaperone, with its ability to one hit kill with a precision hit. Any other shotgun should also require precision hits to one hit kill, but they would need to be closer because of range/spread ideally. Two hit kills with ANY shotgun is still faster than any primary (outside of exotics like the Last Word or Hawkmoon). To me, there is no reason for any shotgun to be able to one hit kill a guardian with 100% body hits. I just don't like it, its too fast. Besides, hit-punch is almost as fast, but plays into the idea that skill is more important than GUN. If this were the case (shotguns being less powerful, not killing as quickly), Fusion Rifles would instantly become better, and we would see variety in Crucible with the types of shotguns used, and also the types of guns used. Instant kills are not good for a game where generally primary weapons have extended times to kill. That's why shotguns are used so frequently. The only thing removing Shot Package will do is bring variety to perk choices. It will not balance the meta. Edit: I really didn't want to write this much. Oops.

Of course it's fair because it's an option available to everyone. It would only be unfair if only some people had access to it. Is it a balanced weapon in current state? No. Is it over powered in its current state? Yes. The shot package removal is great, should make for much more variety in crucible.

When you're 40 feet away from someone using a shotgun and can kill them in 1 shot its overpowered.
-
Life isn't fair

Edited by Tomato Gravy: 10/9/2015 8:43:21 PMYes it's fair....I don't use one, but I am very aware that lots of people do. Only time I really noticed just how many people have one equipped is when i was doing the exotic sword quest & was constantly getting up close for hilt kills.
-
I'd be just fine with shotguns if people didn't run around with ONLY a shotgun
-
Shot package maybe gone but just so everyone knows Dead Orbit is selling a nice shotgun with rangefinder and crowd control
-
Depends on which shotgun For example: New raid one is fair Matador 64 is unfair and extremely easy to use
-
The problem isn't too much range. The problem is not enough range with too much power.
-
We will see in the iron banner next week, shot package is going anyways and fusions have always been a good counter if u see them coming.
-
Idk if you know this but most shotguns will put you down in 1 hit irl. XD

Now it is
