I know its a lot of fun for some, but PvP is always maddening and frustrating for me and I avoid it whenever I can. That's why I always let out a few choice words whenever I am in the middle of a quest step to get something super awesome that I'd like to have suddenly leads into forcing me to do stuff in PvP. I might be the only one that has issues with this, but my enjoyment just drops once I see that "oh, you gotta do PvP to finish that thingy you gotten halfway on".
@Bungie - do you really need to bar everything awesome behind a PvP wall? I am doing the daily PvP stuff, do you REALLY need to force me to play something I don't like even more? FYI I can tell you that I'm not getting more fond of it the more I am playing it. There is super awesome gear locked to PvP exclusively so do you really need to have everything else awesome have to go through it as well? Chaperone, the exotic swords, the rank 5 gunsmith handcannon. I suppose I could chose not to do them naturally, but when just about every cool weapon is locked behind PvP that is really reducing my options of cool flashy stuff.
I beg you Bungie, for the future - stop locking so much behind PvP all the time - Have PvP exclusive gear like Iron Banner and such, but stop making most of the items have to go through PvP. Makes me a sad lion =C
All that negative stuff said, I have to say that I do thouroughly enjoy the changes to the Taken King and how some of the unique item quest like "Black Spindle" and "Sleeper Simulant" works. These kinda things I love, great work all around!
Edit: Wooh! Big subject. Bigger then I thought. Having hard time reading everything coming inn. One player came with the suggestion of having two ways of unlocking items. One PvE and the other PvP. Then players could pick which to go for. I like that idea. I get that PvP'ers aren't happy having to do PvE, same as I'm not happy doing PvP. I know what I like, but as some have pointed out, I can't expect Bungie to cater only to me. Thanks for a lot of feedback, I'm going to have to mull this over for a bit.

I can say that most of the PVP stuff will be left undone, not because I don't play crucible, but because I'm just not very good at it and never will be. I was messing around with the chaperone quest.. ya that is going to stay not done. I'm happy just finish a match even, my old reflexes are never going to match up against a teenager anymore. I only finished my 25 sword kills thanks to mayhem, still need to do it on my other two characters. I wouldn't mind if there was actually some skill based matching like IB, i tend to do OK there, but otherwise I'm either having a great game in scrub land, or getting my ass handed to me because everyone on the other team is positive KD somewhere close to 2 or better.

Head over to the Battlefront Beta and just try what real pvp can be like ... Dedicated servers, big maps, 40 player battles, minimal lag, ground and air vehicles... Bungie should delete their pathetic pvp and start again...
-
I mostly like PVP but am forced to PVE for gear :-/
-
Nobody is forcing you to do anything... But if you want every quest and every weapon in the game, guess what? You have to play all aspects of the game. Pretty simple concept. And entirely fair. If you want it all, you have to do it all. So quit being an entitled little bitch and put in the work, or go play something else.
-
I hate destiny PVP. I would play it if there were any skill involved. Give me a hardcore mode that removed the radar and supers and I might invest some of my time. The three vs three where you can revive downed players was the only mode remotely enjoyable. Quests should have either or modes. Either complete this step doing this in the crucible or complete this step doing this in PVE.
-
Why can't you just be happy with the exotics available through pve means? Some of these exotics don't just require pvp either. They require several steps delving into each aspect of the game, and are rewards intended for players who partake in everything. What about touch of malice, which requires raid completetion? Some people only play the game for pvp like you only play for pve, and they have never finished even vog or ce on hard, say nothing about finishing kings fall and collecting 45 fragments. My advice: if you want it all, play it all.

Edited by Swiftlock: 10/9/2015 6:59:29 PMBungie's philosophy from the start was that not every player will be able to easily obtain every item. It's fair that you need to display skill/resourcefulness/patience in ALL facets of Destiny, both PvP and PvE, in order to get some of the highly desired equipment. You want the good stuff? You must leave your little comfort zone and step up to the challenge.
-
That is ok. Pvp is for fun If they cant handle it, oh well for them.
-
Yeah, no exotic sword for me. Although the update took away the exclamation point i had on crucible. I miss that.
-
I'm kind of glad that they did it this way. In pve content, there are shortcuts you can take. You can find a cheese spot, or a glitch that completely negates the challenge. In pvp, the only way to cheese is to boost, and you have to live with the fact that you had to stoop to that level to finish a quest. When you see someone with the chaperone or an exotic sword you know they went through some serious business to get it.
-
Who here remembers the frustration of having to go through trials of Osiris and get flawless to get an elemental primary? Because scolas wasn't putting out.
-
Yo, other than the swords there is no super awesome gear locked behind a pvp wall
-
The exotic swords you just have to run around and hit things with the hilt. Not hard in inferno
-
I don't really like pvp either. Sometimes it's fun, but I find it's very easy to get angry while playing pvp. I rarely get angry playing pve.
-
You retards should try to understand that bungie doesnt just cater to one particular group of players. They HAVE to cater to pvers, pvpers and ppl that like both. Why the -blam!- should pvpers have to do raids and shit just to get past 300 light so they dont get curbstomped in trials? Theres shit you obtain by doing pve, and theres shit you obtain doing pvp. Imo, if you only enjoy doing either pve or pvp, you are missing out on half the content you paid for so stop bitching about every little thing and enjoy the -blam!-ing game.

Edited by Roe Larry: 10/9/2015 8:00:22 PMWho said it's not okay? And the Chaperone is easy, you don't even need to use TLW...just have it equipped and camp if you're not good. You WILL eventually clear that part of the quest. The exotic sword quest PvP part was lame, yes, but after you get your 1st exotic sword you can skip the PvP part for the other 2 exotic swords if you do it right. I used to love PvP before TTK, now I barely touch it. Rift is a joke and Mayhem is a mess. Looking forward to IB & Trials though, maybe I'll get back into it.
-
As long as they don't lock it behind a PvE wall.
-
Same can be said for those who don't like pve but have to pve for stuff
-
Lol just wait till ToO comes out with all the elemental primaries haha
-
It's okay.

Edited by TheGreatConverse: 10/9/2015 7:06:09 PMI know lots of people like PvP, but yeah it's not my cup of tea either. lol. I feel like bungie just wants to make me fodder to be humiliated in the crucible... I do it for the legendary marks only, and never want to touch it after I'm done each day. Some days it's weird I get like 2.5+ K/D or even higher, but most of the time I'm terrible and get .45 (LOLOL, sucks so bad!) Sigh... I'd rather they cap it at 30-45 marks per day and just let us choose which things we want to run.
-
Pve version has perks and pvp version has no perks just diff reskin. Easy.
-
I understand where you're coming from. To be honest I like a bit of PvP, but the crucible quest line is just stupidly long and annoying. Try lone wolfing elimination to get 5 wins - horrid experience. TBH a couple of the quests - ostensibly the swords and the crucible - are so frustratingly long and irritating that I'm losing interest in Destiny... Having to collect nearly 600 materials just to get 10 stupid items for the sword quest has left me mentally scarred

Edited by loonigus: 10/9/2015 6:53:08 PM
super awesome gear locked to PvP exclusively
As a PVP player mainly I beg to differ tbh. From pvp activities you got mainly weapons good for that particular activity. Such as Fellwinters (that sucks in pve due to the horendous fire rate... fast fire rate / low impact dominates in pve) and Messenger. Nothing special in PVE that even more now is completely useless due to the power value changes. And in general Trials was designed as a competitive gameplay mode. Sadly PVE players got the terrible PoE crap (sorry for that lol)... Radegast Fury and/or Ash Factory were also mainly PVP weapons and honestly who didnt use a Ghorn on the heavy slot if he had one ofc... I guess same as PVP players could argue about why they cant farm items exclusive to pve so can you argue about the oposite... Well... I guess its a pat-sutiation for both sides. For example there is NO route for PVP players getting past 300 (excluding exotic 310 drops for infusion). They need to do the raid (so PVE) in order to compete in PVP later next week (IB and Trials). One is connected to eachother and thats how it should be imo. If you give me a chance to get 300+ light drops from the crucible then I will be pleased.
-
everything "awesome" isnt barred behind a PvP wall, theres only 1 single gun id be interested in from pvp and thats The Messenger, thats absolutely it
-
But aren't the perks in pvp events geared towards pvp? Just like pve gear has perks for pve activites?
