I know its a lot of fun for some, but PvP is always maddening and frustrating for me and I avoid it whenever I can. That's why I always let out a few choice words whenever I am in the middle of a quest step to get something super awesome that I'd like to have suddenly leads into forcing me to do stuff in PvP. I might be the only one that has issues with this, but my enjoyment just drops once I see that "oh, you gotta do PvP to finish that thingy you gotten halfway on".
@Bungie - do you really need to bar everything awesome behind a PvP wall? I am doing the daily PvP stuff, do you REALLY need to force me to play something I don't like even more? FYI I can tell you that I'm not getting more fond of it the more I am playing it. There is super awesome gear locked to PvP exclusively so do you really need to have everything else awesome have to go through it as well? Chaperone, the exotic swords, the rank 5 gunsmith handcannon. I suppose I could chose not to do them naturally, but when just about every cool weapon is locked behind PvP that is really reducing my options of cool flashy stuff.
I beg you Bungie, for the future - stop locking so much behind PvP all the time - Have PvP exclusive gear like Iron Banner and such, but stop making most of the items have to go through PvP. Makes me a sad lion =C
All that negative stuff said, I have to say that I do thouroughly enjoy the changes to the Taken King and how some of the unique item quest like "Black Spindle" and "Sleeper Simulant" works. These kinda things I love, great work all around!
Edit: Wooh! Big subject. Bigger then I thought. Having hard time reading everything coming inn. One player came with the suggestion of having two ways of unlocking items. One PvE and the other PvP. Then players could pick which to go for. I like that idea. I get that PvP'ers aren't happy having to do PvE, same as I'm not happy doing PvP. I know what I like, but as some have pointed out, I can't expect Bungie to cater only to me. Thanks for a lot of feedback, I'm going to have to mull this over for a bit.

I only disagree with the quests that require you to dominate in the crucible. I.e. the first part of the chaperone quest requires you to be really good, but the shotgun doesn't go down upon death. Makes no sense.

Edited by Quadlog: 10/9/2015 4:14:34 PMI have fun in pvp sometimes and overall I don't mind it but even for people like me they force you do certain things like having to use a specific weapon type or cycling you through all the maps. There are certain pvp modes I loathe and had to just grin and bear it. It sucks op but it's not going to change. Right now I'm doing the 6+ kills with a scout for three matches and I keep getting dumped into maps that aren't made for scouts. Just put me on first light damnit!! Lol
-
I was doing the chaperone bounty, when I found out I had to do the bond brothers strike at the end! Bungie, please stop locking all these awesome weapons behind a PVE wall
-
I think POE did hide the best stuff behind pvp but I feel TTK did not. I think you will find its pretty balanced in that aspect. Plus pvp gear will be good for pvp so if only do pve you will not be missing out.
-
Im more of a PvP player, but if i want the touch of Malice i gotta sit there like an idiot trying to gather 45 fragments of total borefest. I probably wont finish it, but that means i wont get an awesome gun, but it is what it is. Im not gonna let a video game(something thats supposed to be fun) make me do something that i find boring.
-
i don't like pvp,... and yeah it's not okay appearently.. i have 3 titans cause i dislike hunters and warlocks (even tho i have tried them)... also not okay with this community sheep like behaviour... god forbid you do something else instead of the same shit the rest is doing.
-
I completely agree but in this case bungie says, "we are not forcing you, you don't need to have that awesome exotic"
-
Eh, what about 90 percent of the other gear that's locked behind PvE content? There are players who only enjoy the PvP side of destiny too.
-
I see where you coming from, a few quests is ok, but they have put in a lot of PVP quests. Sorry to hear you don't like the crucible, i think its pretty great.
-
All I see is " blah blah blah I want all the gear without playing all of the game"
-
I understand but my guess is Bungie wants you to experience the WHOLE game, not just pve
-
I understand both sides of this. I also don't like crucible much. Though I have to say, for whatever reason, I've played a few rounds in year two and I don't hate it like I did in year one. Anyhow, back to you point. I wish they would have a dual path option for the exotic quests. One PvE and one PvP. Basically, I think Bungie needs to think of the two halves as more divisive than they currently do. I'm not privy to the data that they are however. Maybe I'm way off base. It just seems to me that pretty much everyone I play with likes one or the other but not really both. Honestly, the PvP crowd that doesn't like PvE has it worse. I think a dual path option would be awesome and can't think of a scenario where anyone would have a gripe with it.
-
To counter your argument... If I could do only pvp and get all the gear and guns I wanted I would. But I'm forced to play PVE to get the stuff I want. I don't complain about it though, I just deal with it and do it.
-
Even before the game was released Deej outright said something to this vein at one of the big expos: "Destiny has something for everyone, but we have systems in place to try and get players out of their comfort zones and really experience everything this game has to offer. If you're a PvP guy, you're going to dabble in PvE to get loot and vice versa." It was later revealed that Exotic quest-lines were a large part of this. Personally, I'm all for it. Currently the only way to get everything this game has to offer is to play everything this game has to offer and the title's better for it generally speaking.
-
Man people that hate pve and love pvp, has to do all the pve to get cool shit, what are you thinking?
-
I agree and feel pretty strongly about it. I am not going to bother with Jolly Holiday for this reason. It would be OK with me if you always get a PvP option and a PvE option. But really, why not require Crucible for Crucible-related items and PvE for PvE-related items? I know some are good in both, but most items are good in one and mediocre in the other.
-
PVP is a big part of the game and any shooter really. If you don't want to do the PVP quest parts then don't get the guns. No one is forcing you.
-
If your not PvPing your doing it wrong.
-
I can understand Bungie's purpose for putting Quests in both environments. Only the true "Legends", as they would put it, can overcome all challenges that are put before them.
-
So all that raid gear/weapons... You mean i have to play PvE to get them? That's bullshit Bungie. Cater to me and me alone.
-
I gotta deal with nonsense PvE stuff all the time, and i favor PvP. I could play play Crucible all day, but half of the PvE feels like a chore. So it goes both way, for u PvP players
-
First of all. No one is forcing you, holding a gun to your head to do the quests that require PvP. If you want the best stuff you're going to have to do everything in the game, PvP and PvE. I don't much care for PvE but I do t complain when something I want is behind the PvE wall. I suck it up and do it. I don't make a forum post crying about why I "have" to do something I don't like.
-
Absolutely agree. Instead, give us a chance to select a pve alternative. Like a Warsat or increase the number of materials to 20.
-
Agreed. I don't really enjoy PvP myself either and have been disappointed that so many exotic bounties or quests required PvP activites to progress. I bought Destiny solely for PvE and to try and force us into the crucible if we want the exotics is, in my opinion a cheap attempt at pushing PvP onto those who don't want to play it. Don't get me wrong, it's not that PvP is poor. Far from it, but both modes should always be seperate. Year 2 has saw a rise in forced PvP activity and has left me deflated and disappointed. Thanfully BO3 is only 4 weeks away and I will have zombies (my true love lol) to play alongside Destiny so some of my frustrations might fade and I can stop taking the game too serious.
-
That would make everything too easy to get. PvE is way too easy. The exotic quest, except the spindle, are almost laughable. You can even get carried through pretty much every one.
-
There is to much PVP requirements now, I like it a little but not to good at it and I hate to drag team down because of it. Not everyone does pvp for fun.
