Terminus A new secret area was recently discovered on Destiny, although it looks like it’s not somewhere that Bungie were expecting players to access just yet. The area is currently completely unfinished, and appears to be a work in progress at the moment. To get there, you’ll need to use a gravity lift from the Juncture. It’s also likely that you’ll need to make use of the Gunslinger’s triple jump ability, as there’s a lot of unusual jumping that needs to be done to get there. Just follow the video above for a step-by-step guide on how to actually reach the ‘Terminus’ area. The whole place consists of incomplete platforms, and many are assuming that it will be finished and expanded upon in time for the first DLC, due for release in December. 9. Football! Hidden footballs are a time-honoured Bungie tradition, with giant footballs making multiple secret appearances throughout the Halo series. In Destiny, it looks like Bungie have once again made a nod to this easter egg, which first appeared in Halo 2. To find the football, make your way to The Tower, then to the area’s Plaza. Although there have been varied reports as to where it will appear, it generally seems to spawn on the left hand side, just under the stairs. It’s affected by physics, meaning that you can feasibly kick it around with friends. There’s also a larger, purple ball that can be found nearby, which is floatier and easier to bounce on your head. 8. Plaza Fan Here’s another nifty secret that can be found at the Tower Plaza. While you’re in the area, make your way to the steps near the Postmaster’s building. From these steps, you should be able to sprint jump onto the roof of the Postmaster’s building. Once you’ve landed on the roof, you should be able to see huge fan. If you bring along a friend, then one of you can stand on the fan, while the other controls the fan’s panels from the nearby balcony on the far end. The person at the control panels can ‘Activate’ the fan, causing whoever is standing on it to go flying high into the air. If you get the timing right, it’s possible to get ridiculously high with a jump or double jump, allowing you to land on top of similarly tall objects nearby. 7. Master Chief Building Bungie have been surprisingly restrained when it comes to referencing their most famous and popular franchise, but that’s not to say they haven’t hidden away a few little titbits. One of the most blatant is this building, which bears more than a passing resemblance to the one and only Master Chief. To find this easter egg, first venture to the planet Mars. Once you’ve landed on its red, dusty surface, journey over to the Trenchworks area. There, you’ll find this large outpost building, unlike any other featured in the game elsewhere. The glowing golden window and green banner, along with the distinctive shape of the ‘visor’, resemble the Chief about as much as a building possibly can. 6. Praise the Sun! There are a number of hilarious references and loving homages to various aspects general pop culture in Destiny. Many of these take place within the various armours and weapons on offer, which often give a knowing nod to other video game franchises. The best comes in the form of the Heart of the Praxis Fire chest armour, which is about as packed with references as a piece of in-game armour can be. For starters, the Praxis Fire armour resembles the same kind of medieval sword-stoppers found in the Souls series. It also features ‘Praise the Sun’ bonus, which is a phrase that any Souls fan will know as the favourite emote of any self-respecting zealot of the light. 5. Destiny Awaits This easter egg doesn’t actually appear in Destiny itself, but is instead a reference to Bungie’s latest from five years ago. This advertising board can be found in Halo 3: ODST, and initially didn’t give reason for most players to give it a second thought. Although it clearly shows the Traveler hanging over Earth, it’s easy to assume that it was just a stylised Moon. For a while, Bungie claimed that there was a final secret that could be found in Halo 3: ODST, but players were baffled. It wasn’t until the first details for Destiny were released that players swarmed to Twitter with screenshots of the prophetic board. Vic Deleon, the Halo series’ digital artist, responded by tweeting “IT’S FINALLY BEEN FOUND!” 4. Huge Black Garden Secret Island Destiny is jam-packed with areas that players weren’t supposed to find, but this is possibly the biggest one discovered yet. Just outside of the Black Garden level is a huge, floating rocky island, home to a strangely familiar cave. To find this secret area, you’ll first need to go to the Black Garden. Next up, there’s a series of tricky jumps that you’ll need to carry out, which are explained fully in the video above. The island itself doesn’t contain any enemies, but it does feature a cave that’s identical to the one found in Tharsis Junction from the Mars map. There’s not much to do once you do find this secret, but the challenge of using special jumps to get there is a lot of fun. 3. 007 Destiny features a number of references to everyone’s favourite British super secret agent, James Bond. The James Bond franchise is filled with iconic weaponry, making it the perfect source of inspiration when it came to creating the guns of Destiny. One of the more obvious references comes in the form of the ‘Doctor Nope’ legendary Auto Rifle, a bastardisation of the title of 007’s first movie outing. Another is the Golden Gun Hunter Super Ability, which can be used by the Gunslinger class. Activating the Golden Gun will give the player a powerful hand cannon, which can kill other players in just one shot. To balance things out, the Golden Gun only comes with three shots. 2. Redemption Codes Bungie.net allows for a number of 9-digit redemption codes to be redeemed for in-game items, which are normally obtained from Bungie’s marketing partners. This little trick will grant you early access to a boss fight that was held back for future downloadable content, in the form of the Ultra Captain. To find the secret boss, you’ll need to make your way to Earth, starting up the level 4 Patrol Mission. After that, things get a little tricky, so follow the video above for detailed instructions on how to actually reach the boss. The Ultra Captain himself isn’t anything particularly special, but it’s worth it to get that warm, fuzzy feeling that you managed to get around the content lock.
