This short forum is about gold chests, key chests, and finding dead ghosts. To save time a lot of Youtube vids will be posted here.
Gold chests differ from normal chests as they have set loot. They are also limited to five, currently, to each planet/moon.
Earth → 5 total
Moon → 5 total
Venus → 5 total
Mars → 5 total
Dreadnaught → no gold, but several key chests
This set loot is based off of the time/level you should of found these. A max level toon will not benefit as much from these chest as a level 3-15. Two items a max level will get out of finding these now: (1) Strange Coin and (1) class specific sparrow. You get the coin on Mars and the sparrow from Earth.
Below is the video from Youtube that is very well done. If starting a new toon this would be good to watch so your toon can benefit from these chests. The creator uses missions to go and find these chests and his logic makes sense by using quest markers, but I will note that all, but maybe one or two can be found on patrols.
One would be the last chest on the moon. You will have to do the strike to get into boss room, as this is the only time it opens. But it is quick and painless, 15minutes with a good team.
On Mars one chest is located in the subway area. The mission takes you right to it, but if you are like me and patrol for it, it will take some time. One silver lining to this is I had the Vex ultra and champion bounty the day I went looking for this chest and the outer court of the subway has five of these guys and spawn rates are high. Not to also mention the Taken were attacking and I was able to fulfill that bounty as well.

Topic: Calcified Fragments (Update) First the obvious; out of 50, 45 are needed for the "Touch of Malice". They are scattered around the Dreadnaught, found in the raids, found in Nightfalls (Dreadnaught only), Court of Oryx, and from the Dreadnaught only bounties. The first post on Fragments below will show you all locations minus the hidden ones. Hidden Fragments; First two → Complete Nightfalls that are Dreadnaught strikes. The only two are the Shield Brothers and Darkblade. Once you complete these you should get one from each. Second batch → Dreadnaught Bounties. As you kill or do certain things on the DN, you will be given a bounty that you can only complete on the DN. There are several of these. There are also several sets. Each set gives you one at the end. Seems each set is 4 quests total. I notice I get a fresh set by completing Court of Oryx. These do not have to be completed in the Court, and some require you to go to other locations to do. Finishing a set should reward you a fragment, and just like getting chest keys, the bounty given is random. Third Batch→ Court of Oryx. Completing court based bounties, killing bosses (certain ones), and doing the weekly Antiquated Rune boss will reward one. So get to the court and start using runes and bring a fireteam or jump in with others. The Antiquated rune boss changes weekly, make sure to down them and collect the frag. Once you have the frag from that boss, you will not receive another. You will have to wait until the following week for the boss change out. I believe there are three or four level 3 bosses here. And make sure to just keep killing. Notes: Like dead ghosts, a good portion you can get on patrol. The one found on shield brothers, you can get my jumping over the door in that engine room to the hallway leading to the bridge. Also there is an Ultra Knight here, use a three of coins and get a chance at an exotic. Another example of patrol grabs would be the darkblade. Go to the founts and you will find three wardens. Kill all three within ten second of each other and the door opens, allowing you to collect the two hidden back there. This move is also needed for the sword quest if you haven't done this yet. The few further back in this area will require the strike to collect. Should do it for this update...but I'm not finished. The lore behind the fragments in the grimoire is amazing. For those looking for the backstory of the hive and taken, this is your spot. Believe it or not Oryx is not Oryx and the story here opens up so much that Bungie can work with in future expansions. Go, read, enjoy. I'm finished now.

Edited by chucklenoris: 2/10/2016 2:05:02 PMTopic: Dead Ghost (Update) Location: Most Originally there was rumor that only 70-80 dead ghosts were in game. Having 82 now, I have decided to do some research. Disclaimer here is that this number and my current research will always be changing as Bungie updates the game, adds content, and updates the Grimoire. Using the Grimoire I have found out the current number of dead ghosts 1/22/16 is → 101. Ghost grimoire is noted by the Ghost symbol on a grimoire card. My current number is 82, so I have a bit to go and by time I'm close I'm sure another update will show up, adding more. In a lore based mindset, it makes sense right now in game, because ghosts and others are trying to find information on our lost past. Reading your Grimoire will give you the lore based story you are looking for, all the while giving you something to strive for. A few things to take from this update. First there is one ghost that is exclusive to PSN. This ghost is found in a PSN only strike, I believe the Echo Chamber?, but my first post on dead ghost has this in the video about the 17 new TTK locations. SO for us Xbox kids, we won't be getting this. Second is a interlinked theory of two thoughts. My theory is that Bungie has assigned all the "ghost" grimoire cards, they just haven't placed them all yet and slowly do with patches and expansions. Also as they do add and update content, they add more to the grimoire. I feel that both of these are true. My last part of this theory to back this up, is that I noticed on me Osiris Grimoire I only saw three cards. Two of these "Vision 81 and 47" Once I found 81, a third card unlocked and is a Ghost card. So as you find ghost cards, there is a chance that more ghost cards will show up, adding to my theory of Bungie setting the amount of ghost cards that can be found. This could also unlock the dead ghost spot. Maybe it isn't there on a ledge as you pass, then one day you collect a sister card, that unlocks it in grimoire and in game. Which also goes along with the progressive story/lore lines Bungie has created off game. Below is another ghost update. I will also state this for everyone. Nearly 90% of all ghosts do not require you to be in a quest or strike. I have found all of mine on patrol, minus the ones that do require a strike or parts of a quest that are locked on patrol. One example of quest required ghost, the mission "The Coming War". You are on Phobos, moon of Mars, and the quest is required to get these ghosts, because there is no patrol. One example of a Strike required ghost, which is also in the video below, is the "The Summoning Pits". There is one in the boss room, and on patrol you can only make it to the door to the pits, as it is closed. Also note that a golden chest is in the boss room. Now using a quest helps steer you in the right direction, but for those who patrol like me and know most of the area, you can just pick up as you walk along. Example of a patrol based find, verse having to use a strike or quest, which this is also in the video below, is finding Ghosts in "The shrine of Oryx". The entire area to the shrine is completely open in patrol. Simply make your way in and begin hunting. Again though, I will not bash the quest or strike, they help point you in the right direction if you get lost on patrols. If for some reason as I find these ghosts and come across ones that are not available in patrol I will note them in this forum. But the way Bungie formats the patrol, quests, and strikes is all the same environment. As usual I will post updates and corrections as I find stuff out. Patch 2.1 update video (New ghosts on back end) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKClNkcvVDM&index=54&list=PLaaUtW5k8Du6Dhqz1Qtf69dRtC2L-RLwA EDIT 2/10/15 So found out a few things, looks like Xbox will get the Echo Chamber, just not for a long time. But there is a way to glitch into it. It takes one person to get there and two to get in and collect. See video below. I will be testing this soon to see if it still works. Target: Calcified Fragments So what I know about Calcified Fragments is there are 50 of these and are hidden everywhere on the Dreadnaught. When you pick up your first one it activates a quest. You go and speak to Eris in the Tower. Then she gives you a quest to find five more. Once you do this it can be turned into Eris, who completes the quest line, but tells you to find the rest if you dare. From what I gathered in the video, once you beat the TTK raid you have a quest to find 45 of the 50 fragments to make a exotic Scout Rifle called "Touch of Malice". Since I will be finding these long before I ever beat the raid I will see if this can happen without beating the raid. Again edits to come. As far as I know fragments are scattered about the Dreadnaught, in chests, and from events in the Court. Like always youtube has plenty of videos to show these location or how to acquire them. I will link a few here in this post down below. I will include notes and edit them as I find out stuff myself. I know every locked chest, including the Taken, Scent, Charged, and Skycommander chests, have a fragment in them. That is I believe 9-12 fragment right off the bat. A few in strikes and the raid. A few spots to mention without looking at video: 1:) Right by the Maggot Chest 2:) Hallway to Founts behind closed gate 3:) Along side the Cabal Ship under some debris 4:) In one of the chest rooms behind the big round cylinder (sorry can't remember which one) 5:) Inside the Founts in the hallways that look like graves, on the top somewhere in this location is one. 6:) In a dark hallway close to where you first enter the Dreadnaught. Think of the chasm you come across and have to walk on invisible pathways. When you get across you can see a platform in the distance that looks like it is oozing light/liquid. Across from that is a platform you can jump too. Leads to a hallway and in there is another fragment. 7:) Several drop from the Court of Oryx fights using the coins. Completing the quest for killing champions in the court gives you another as well. 8:) Right at the starting point in the Breach. The pillars that go up and kinda stair step lead to a fragment all the way at the top. Videos: Video 1: Show the fragments you can get on patrol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2F2GbMaEW8 Video 2: Is a part two video of fragments. This is not the same creator as the video above. But part one of this set shows the same thing, but you have to listen to people talk. I couldn't find anything else, but in this video it helps to have someone explain the process. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gywb1PkjjCc That is it for now, if I find out more I will bring in my edits.

Topic: Strange Coin Currency: Currently only for Xur to gain exotics I'm adding a farming section for strange coins. I am curious about this topic as every time I see a video we post, the poster has a crap ton of coins, while I live week to week gaining coins. If I'm correct regular strikes pay out at least one strange coin per finish. I haven't done much on normal lately so I'll update as I find more stuff. Some videos you can find are pre TTK. Before the video posts, break down all of your blues and you will see some turn into strange coins and motes of light. The first video I'm posting about this, well it's painful. I have a hard time following him, the poster is hard to follow as he talks low, then screams, then laughs. My impression of him is a white dude from California trying to be black. But if you can follow him he has a useful spot to farm at least 10 per hour. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-P11-fskU60 Second Video: much easier on the ear https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ruxpJ27bU48 Seems prison of Elders is a good spot. Should any of my 360 buddies wish too, I'm game to run this all night. I'll keep updating this as time goes on.

Topic: Dead Ghost Location: All I have been looking at and for the dead ghost in the game. They offer good lore for your Grimoire. So for those following lore it's a good way to increase the story content. As far as I know finding these do not offer any type of benefits. Earth: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4OVDd4cPA-Q&list=PLaaUtW5k8Du6Dhqz1Qtf69dRtC2L-RLwA&index=21 Moon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eF7cvLFry8&index=22&list=PLaaUtW5k8Du6Dhqz1Qtf69dRtC2L-RLwA Venus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6srY4F13CSw&index=23&list=PLaaUtW5k8Du6Dhqz1Qtf69dRtC2L-RLwA Mars: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JGvgC04yxo&index=24&list=PLaaUtW5k8Du6Dhqz1Qtf69dRtC2L-RLwA TTK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zR3JNrKgxl0&list=PLaaUtW5k8Du6Dhqz1Qtf69dRtC2L-RLwA&index=25 Some require events to be taking place to gain access or to be in raids or quests.

Edited by chucklenoris: 10/13/2015 5:27:09 PMTodays Target: Scent Chest and Taken Consumption chest The scent chest is located in the Mausoleum on the far south eastern end of the cavern. Or if you are looking at the back wall with all the light, to the left. This chest is guarded by blind Thralls. They are immune to damage. The video link I will post will show that you will have to enter a strike to get the chest open. Edit: I was on patrol and it seems like it will work on patrol as well. The buff you get from standing in the maggot room will begin taking effect as soon as you enter into the tunnel. Give it a minute to charge up then it will make a noise and begin a timer. You have less than a minute to make it to the chest. My Titan is too slow, that and if I would just focus on my jumps I could probably make it within the final seconds. So equip your sub class to all agility stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlI0fvT2QhA&index=6&list=PLaaUtW5k8Du6Dhqz1Qtf69dRtC2L-RLwA Taken Consumption Chest is located near the Chest of Akka. The black corruption on the ground can kill you quickly. I have seen a video that shows a defender Titan help his buddies with his Ward set to damage resistance. The video I'm posting will tell you that your super ability can help any class. I will say this, for anyone that games with me I would be more than happy to drop my Ward for your chest. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMLckR-Zwhw&index=7&list=PLaaUtW5k8Du6Dhqz1Qtf69dRtC2L-RLwA Edit 10/13: I have discovered what the Agonarch Rune does. It is for a chest that spawns in the Founts. I was always curious about this empty room and now I know more about it. There are Taken events on the Dreadnaught. Once you charge a rune that drops you take it and turn it into the rune slot machine. Then it starts an event and at the end a chest appears and boom. Link below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfRD3uxYrAU Loot in these chest are really the same as the key chests lying around.

Edited by chucklenoris: 10/9/2015 1:50:20 PMStaying on the Dreadnaught for todays talk. It seems a lot of people are asking about the key chest. How many, where, how, and loot? Welp first there is a lot of info on this topic. I will try and link stuff here and edit when I can. I do believe there is a pattern to this. Again this is subject to be edited. 1 → Key Chests have names, you need that key with that name to unlock it. 2 → There are what I call, "Slot Machines", one is called a wormsinger, this requires a wormsinger rune. The runes can be collected off of Hive enemies in the Dreadnaught. So far it will drop anywhere, but it is said to have a better rate in the Court of Oryx. 3 → activating a rune in this machine will trigger a Hive attack party. They spawn close by and you need to kill the group leader for a "chance" at gaining a Wormfeeder Rune. 4 → Complete the task that the rune has to it. This is typically a get fifty kills without dying and then it turns into a random key. I have linked a video to this that is a basic all round way to find this stuff. 5 → Find chest and use key. What chests can you find? Wyrding Chest https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19kF5g-t_6w Akka Chest https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdsVoCQPIk0 Ur Chest https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dl_41lFTAh8 Gnashing Chest https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GDUycIBekc Xol Chest https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbZ5HpCIlfc Eir Chest https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBAPxw15AMI Maggots Chest (video starts at the northern part of the Mausoleum exiting Cabal Ship) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsEe7D4xxbU Spawn Chest (Video starts on southwestern end of Mausoleum.) I have edited this list with youtube links. Enjoy.

Edited by chucklenoris: 10/9/2015 12:59:16 PMLet's talk Dreadnaught. Since most of the action is happening or related to this area in the game I feel it time to talk about farming the Hadium needed for the heavy sword. I know that a few of us with the weapon already have used our own methods, but I would like to share mine. If I used the link properly it should lead to a map of the Dreadnaught. If not just google it. You need a few things before you go and get the sword. First → Complete and beat Oryx in the new TTK quests. Second → Do a lot of talking and back and forth work in the Tower, Eventually Eris will give you quest for Shaxx. Third → Farm Hadium Fourth → Check which sword you want. You will need other mats as well to complete this. So farm mats if you still need them Fifth → Turn in 25 Hadium and all other mats into Shaxx. Depending on your element needs or wants, the swords will fit you how you make them as you progress and enhance them. Personally I went Arc since I have seen a lot of solars and voids. Questing and farming the other mats should be a no brainer. So I will talk the method I used to farm the Hadium. Remember you need 25. First you start at the Breach. Here you see the damaged Cabal ship and two other pathways to other areas of the Dreadnaught. In this area there are several spawn caves and key chest caves. Later we will discuss the key chests, but inside with these chests are normal chests. Up by the Cabal ship there are a few spawn points around the battlefield and just inside the ships hull, there are spawn points. I do not recommend farming in the ship. I personally found nothing in there, but mobs. There is a path that runs along the ruined ship. This will take you to the Mausoleum, or should you run the ship, the ships exit is into the north part of the Mausoleum. If you did the quest for Oryx already this is the portal room you need to become "ascendant" before entering. In this area are more caves, key and spawning. In one spawn cave there is a hole in the wall that leads to the maggot chest. Above that is a ledge where three different chest spawn. In the court area itself there are several promising spawn points. All the way from the Cabal ship to the portal itself. From here you can take the western entrance back to the Breach. I would do a figure 8. Start at the Breach and go north. There is a key cave and a few spawning caves. Look in these areas. Then move up to the Cabal. Check their storage areas on the battlefield and just inside their ship. Then move your way back east to where the Hive are attacking on the cliffs. Over there are a few more spawn caves and up by the south eastern entry is another key cave. Check these areas. Then move northeast back along the Cabal ship into the Mausoleum. Go north to the Cabal ship back entrance, giggity, and sweep your way back south towards the portal check all your corners, pillars, and under passes. Then look for the few spawn caves and key cave to see if any chests are in there. Then back sweep through the entry you came in. Rinse and Repeat. Each chest drops one Hadium. You need 25 for the sword and while you are at it gather wormspore. This is important for high end upgrades later. Another simpler method is to just stay in the Breach and farm all the caves, key caves, and even the Breach field has chests spawning in them. In fact the first Hadium chest I found was as soon as I spawned into the Breach and it was right there in the field by some Hive Knight. If you feel like being adventurous, you can break the circle farming, but I will say in the Cabal ship, the Founts, and the Asylum there are not many chests. As you transition from area to area you will enter an area called the Hall of Bone I believe, which leads to the Court of Oryx. The Court is the really red room with a center bridge leading to statues and the green goop platform in the Hall of Bone. This will damage you and is a event location. Besides that this center platform has the key chest Gnashing on it, the pathways surrounding the platform will have wizards, knights, and taken on them. Check these ledges as I have found a few chests here. Past the platform is an area the hive are just patrolling. You can find some chest here as well. Post if anyone has anything about this.
