What is a dream? Scientifically, a dream is a succession of images, thoughts, or emotions passing through the mind during sleep. Day dreaming is very closely related, just you dream while awake.
Now, what is my interpretation of a dream? Well, of course it's the same as yours. A dream can be anything. A dream is where you go to see her beautiful face again, a dream is a paycheck, a dream is finally getting the girl you love, a dream is finishing first in the race, a dream is a loving remembrance of a long lost one, and a dream is graduating. Dreams are endless, infinitely looping through different dimensions and psyches of the mind and heart. All converging on one point...You.
It's hard to tell if you should take them seriously, but they can be premonitions to a future cause or effect. They can guide you, or they can break you. It's up to you which way you take while following them. Be very cautious.
Now, take a second and close your eyes. Keep them closed and think of your dream. Think of finally completing it. And the quest to achieve it. Take a good long thought and just dream on. Now open your eyes and focus yourself back into reality. This is the world, and you just dreamed of a different reality where you were happy. Now ask me...Why can't you be happy in this reality? Take a deep breath and put one foot in front of the other, and soon you'll be walking down the road to your dream. All it takes is perseverance and patience.
Free yourself of these chains and bonds around you. You swam to the bottom of your sleep, and got stuck at a mirror. But this is no ordinary mirror. You see yourself, but this person is happy and has what they want. They motion for you to come close, and you try and swim furiously towards their outstretched hand. But to no avail, you are stuck swimming in place. Something is holding you back. It could be judgement, self confidence, love, hate, or depression.
This mirror, this looking glass...It calls to you, it beckons you. Deep inside your heart and your mind, there are two locks. One for your heart, and one for your mind. There is no key, but the key does exist. To find it, look deep inside yourself, deeper than you ever looked before, and confirm what you are and who you want to be. Only then, will you open the locks. With this new knowledge, shatter the mirror. Smash through and let it all come in. Breathe, for you are no longer swimming in place, stuck for eternity. You have reached your destination. Feel enlightened, because you just made it to your dream. Everything you ever wanted was always with you, you just had to search for it.
Dreams are not a barrier, they are not something you look at and then feel sad about. Challenge them, attack with full force and rest easy knowing that you WILL be victorious. Now, go outside and go get that paycheck, go get that girl, go win that race, go ahead and graduate, and dream of her beautiful face once more. This is reality, and you have now found another part of yourself. The pieces slowly come together. This is but one step on the path to enlightenment. I wish you all luck on your path.
