There's a range of clans out there with different requirements for membership: some men-only, some women-only, some for pensioners, some for different nationalities. I'm not a supporter of segregating the genders myself, but if you just want to play with men/women/whatever why shouldn't you be allowed to? Everyone has different preferences, and some groups such as women ARE given unwanted attention online by the immature members of the community, my sister being an example. I'm in a clan that only allows Europeans in it, is that as racist/nationalist as this group is supposedly sexist?

  • I never directly said it was sexist, thank you very much. I only said that I feel like excluding one gender isn't fair. But life isn't fair I can understand that. I do support the group because it is a safe place for us women to game together without being harassed or anything. My only complaint (if you could even call it that) is that there are lots of kind and respectful men who won't be able to play with SOG because of their gender

  • "I feel like excluding one gender" Sexism definition: prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination on the basis of sex But whatever, pointless semantics, the point is that the clan isn't restricting its members from joining up with people from outside of the clan. Joining groups with friendly people in them, as well as playing with clan-mates, is within their reach. Moreover, the vast majority of clans in Destiny are unisexual, if people want to play with men/women/aliens they can always join those. Of course, I agree with your point that excluding people may well not be fair to some of the nicer people in our community, but people deserve to be allowed to play the game the way they want, with the people they want. Honestly, gender should never matter in games. Get a good team, gear up, and play the damn objective. But unfortunately, there's always going to be the element of ignorance in our community, be it about race, gender, sexual orientation, whether you prefer Star Wars or Star Trek, etc.

  • That was what I was trying to convey in my post.

  • If I read your post correctly, it seems like you assume we don't play with folks who identify as male, even though Maleficent pointed out to you earlier that this isn't the case. A requirement for joining doesn't have anything to do with who members play with...The only time we ever ask that folks outside the clan not join is when we are holding clan-specific events; otherwise, who you play with really isn't any of our business, as long as they are respectful to other clanmates.

  • I may have been hasty and jumped to the wrong conclusion. All I was trying to say was that I feel it shouldn't matter what gender you are, as long as you love the game. But I understand your reason for setting up this clan and I support it

  • I wish we lived in a world where how we identify didn't matter, and hopefully one day we will - but it will require that everyone out there takes on the responsibility for making that world come to be. In the meantime, thanks for the support, and good luck in the game!

  • I haven't been having very good luck in game lately, but thank you
