Cosmo, I have a question you should take to the Devs....
[b]Why can't we upgrade all of our year one weapons?[/b]
What is the rationale behind this decision? What is the reason we can't upgrade our weapons?
Because you want us to play with the new weapons you made? Well we have. Now let us choose which we prefer, the new weapons or the old ones.
Is it a gameplay issue? Release the feature with the hard mode.
Is it something else? Let us know. Communicate with us. Because at this point, it just looks like you are ignoring our pleas to upgrade them. And have no other reason to other than just because you can.
Dev team, I ask you this:

If there is no rational reason why we can't upgrade our year one weapons, then why rob us of the satisfaction of using our hard earned year one loot in year two?[/b]
It wouldn't hurt Destiny in any way if we could and if there is one you can think of, let us know.
I kept this post relatively short so the good people in the community could read it quickly and maybe give their thoughts. If you care about your year one weapons you should just Bump this post if nothing else so Cozmo can respond and maybe even take it to the Devs.

I'd be happy just to get the year 1 armor back. Some of this new gear looks like garbage.

People crave year ones because they were so well designed and the perks were genuinely desirable. The answer for me is more creative year 2 weapons, change is not bad nor is leaving old weapons behind...but the replacements have never lived up to day 1 weapons, only my opinion of course

One word, GRIND. They want you to grind for the good weapons, being able to infuse the old ones reduces gameplay, if you are not grinding for a gun you play less, they don't want that, they want to keep the addiction alive and keep you chasing the carrot so they can string you along till the next installment. Something familiar about 2.0? Yeah you are back at level 20 from year 1, go grind to level that light up using gear which we told you you wouldn't have to do, what's that we lied? No no that's light not your level its completely different ;)

It sucks that we can't but we have to move on. It's too easy to jusr stay in our comfort zone. How will we become legend with the same old weapons? Move on and adapt, that's how we guardians become stronger.

3 RepliesAsk Bungie Dev's how many engineering hours it would take to bring up all the old gear from year 1. Not just your prized stuff that you just can't seem to let go of. You will probably find out it's probably an overwhelming number, it's not just the flick of a switch. Why not ask for higher levels for the old raids where that loot is the new system. That would actually be worth having and make that older content viable again.

I had this method in mind: Take 1 Etheric Light and upgrade a year 1 weapon from 160 to 170 (pre-HOW method for vanilla and TDB weapons/armor) Use 1 Etheric Light on any 170 weapon to give it a +5 boost to its damage All pre-TTK Armor cannot upgrade this way as Intellect, Discipline and Strength values cannot change using this method makes it so we can keep upgrading our year 1 weapons and give the usefulness of the Etheric Light back, it may take some time and a lot of Etheric Light to do so but well worth it I think.

It's because they need to charge you another 20$ for the first Cabal themed DLC and giving you back the hostage that is your old progress is most likely going to be their prime selling-point. Bump, thought they'll never respond, bump.

Just exotics. Don't care about any of the other weapons but I hate that I have to get a 'year 2' version of a gun I already have that looks and acts exactly the same. At least let us use legendary marks to get year 2 versions of exotics we had from year 1 and not just what we have on hand. I mean if we have the grimoire card we should have access to the year 2 version through legendary marks.
