What does everyone seem to hate indie games?

So I was reading about the PS+ Games for October out of curiosity, and saw the games where Super meat Boy and Broken age are the bigger ones available this month, and from comments all I see is people getting upset over the fact that the games are indie games, and a random complaint that it's not Assassins Creed 4. The point is, iv seen this on other months where indies are in the spotlight for the free games, and there's always people complaint about them, so the point is, what does everyone have on indie games? The thing I did like about PS+ Games over Xbox Gold was due to PlayStation giving me games I would have have been unlikely to buy, over Xbox giving games I already likely have, do you guys have a problem with them, and if so, why??

  • Indie games are great. I get pretty darn tired of having all my experiences involve aiming down sights.

  • I like the free indie games. They're like a buffer from all the fighting and killing in other games. This month is getting hate because this month sucks and we didn't get the chance to vote this time for some reason. Overall I normally like the indie games. I loved Grow Home, Limbo, Rocket League, etc. I like the PS+ games over Xbox Gold for the same exact reason you do. That and it's more variety. I have no problem with them but this month is just terrible

I'm not a huge fan of indies, but there are some wonderful gems out there. The Escapists, (even though I can't escape for shit lol) To The Moon and A Bird's Story, (can't wait for the sequel) Dust: An Elysian Tale, (can't recommend that one enough I swear) and yes, there are also indie shooters that I like or would like to try out. Oh yeah, there's another one. I gotta get back to you on the title.

    • They're usually and obviously lacking the amount of content that larger game companies produce. Although Destiny is right there with them LOL

    • Because indie games are shit and a waste of space on my hard drive.

    • I personally love them. I've gotten so many great games out of the Games With Gold program. People just want their mindless shooters and action games, and aren't open-minded enough to enjoy a fantasy game about a girl lost in a dream world or a puzzle game about little green blobs.

      • They're fine, I prefer some indies games to AAA games simply because they are more fun than some of the AAA games that are being pushed out today but that's just my preference. It's why we see big people leaving big companies to start their own company because they are sick of the dumb politics that go on behind the curtain and for some, to get away from cookie cutter games that are some AAA games.

      • I find myself excited for some of the indie releases over the triple A's. I enjoy a game library that's varied in style and genres.

      • People hate them? I mean of course some of them are dumb, but not all of them. Wasn't Dust: An Elysian Tail an indie game? Because, I'm not over exaggerating in the least when I say that was one of the best games I've ever played. (and probably had some of the best jokes I've ever seen)
"And don't worry about Giovanni; we'll sort him out." "Yeah! Like the laundry!" "(sigh) Yes, Fidget, like the laundry.."
• For the most part, I find indie games to be more enjoyable to play. They seem to have a higher entertainment value per dollar. I think people should be glad that they can get any game for free at all. They are not entitled to recieve 2-4 AAA titles each month. Now, granted, I tend to not purchase many indie games, as even though they are cheap there is not a lot of garuntee that they will be that great. However there are very few that I could say we're not enjoyable. Child of light, ori, castle crashers, dust, dungeon defenders, and so many more. I loved most of the indie games I have played.

        • I like indies. It's a nice break from AAA. A lot of them are very creative, too. People seem to hate indies because they aren't AAA games. There's a perception of lesser quality with knowing the budget is significantly less (most indies). People just need to look beyond that, stop attaching the 'indie' stigma, and just regard them as games like any other.

        • Some people can't relate to and appreciate the simpler things. There are some incredibly boring indies, but there are plenty of awesome ones.

        • I just don't like them Whenever I play an indie game I get bored I really hate 9/10 of the indie market Platformers, bullet hell's, 2D whatever's. They just don't interest me or keep my attention.

Some of the most fun and interesting games I've played recently are indies. Don't starve, Resogun, transistor, never alone, contrast, valiant hearts...too many to remember in fact. Of the AAA titles ps+ have given on ps4 I've only liked infamous: first light. Also broken age and super meat boy are both AWESOME!!!!

        • I think a lot of people dont like indies because they spent good money on there console. And dont want to play 8 bit games on them. All though some indies are great alot of them are trash. Me I was skeptical about the indies prior to getting my ps4 but have enjoyed alot of great indie games for free

        • Most are ok. Ori and don't starve are examples of amazing indie games. However for me, I grew up in the Atari 2600 prime and went through each generation with at least one console. I really just can't stand a lot of the art styles (8 bit and so on) and I don't enjoy platformers. I do not get nostalgic for old games or there art style. I enjoy the era we are in when it's there and then I move on. That's just me.
