The difference is that Hammer of Sol has to be activated. Shadow Shot, like Nova Bomb, doesn't require activation. You just fire it. It's easy to spot the big flaming Titan running around. Shadow shot is a 'surprise, you're dead' sort of thing. And tethers are meaner than you think.
