Seeing as water came from comets and space itself it's not as surprising as the fact we actually found some seeing we are light minutes(182 light seconds-had to look it up I'm ashamed) away from Mars and still are learning a ton about the universe! The fact we can make missions this far away and obtain physical data is huge, what a find!

We are not light years from Mars. Maybe a few light minutes. Not more then a light hour though. And we knew ice existed on Mars but now we found liquid water. And liquid water is necessary for life as we know it.

Did I say years? Lulz I'm an idiot thank you for that I completely missed it. Also it is an exciting age we live in, I wasn't belittling the fact we found water but more impressed of our ability to reach out and document it. Once again if I looked at the possibilities we know there is planets with the prime conditions for stabilizing life and water out there just out of reach, hence my previous statement.
