Hahahah I've seen the same thing. In recruitment I'll see someone who doesn't have grimoire unlocked and their requirement is "must have beaten it before" HAHAHAHAHAHA. As quickly as we all wanted to beat the raid, getting carried ruins it.

Yup, took my raid group 4-5 hours on oryx, but it was so worth it

Honestly wiping a lot to learn and master the mechanics is part of the fun, those kids wanting to get carried are missing out.
