We all know the arguments against matchmaking for nightfalls and raids. It would be too random, unfiltered and have no idea who you would end up with--valid concerns.
That doesn't justify the fact that there is a total inability to find players in Destiny's own game other than a random invite or message to a stranger. Bungie wants to encourage us to play together but doesn't want to find us groups. Fine. Let us have a tool in game to find them ourselves.
It's pretty ludicrous that third party sites and applications have to be used to play a game.
It's not Bungie's job to find us friends. But as a developer of an ever growing, complicated and expanding world, its their job to help us have access to finding other guardians to play with.
Please add a group finder terminal in the tower, where we can post what we are looking for, our requirements, and do so in a filtered manner so it can pair us with a like minded fireteam.
Can you imagine a Guardian going to the Vanguard for help and they say, sorry we can't help you, have you tried asking the UNSC?
Addendum: I use the third party sites just fine. But adding a group finder would be a nice, optional, addition for those who want a more streamlined experience.

They do need to have a group finder in game the app and friend requesting is just a pain in the ass. Matchmaking for raids is a big NO tho

Whatever the elitists want to say about no matchmaking for raids for there is no reason whatsoever to not have it in nightfalls. I haven't used a mic in nightfalls barely ever and get through them fine.
