What you were hearing was not him talking it was the a past recording of his still floating around.. radio waves do not ever stop or end they continue to move through space and time indefinitely. TV and Radio that we have sent in to space is still traveling through the universe and if one traveled far enough fast enough you could still hear old radio and tv broadcasts.
