EDIT: Ok nevermind. I thought that runes were consumed once you used them and if you failed, they were gone regardless. Apparently that's not the case.
When Court of Oryx was first shown, people immediately started predicting all the ways in which someone could troll you and deny your rewards/make you waste your runes. And now it's starting to happen. I just wasted an antiquated rune because I mistakenly thought that the 6 people already at the court would love the chance to play the tier 3 this week. And it wasn't like I rushed in and slapped my run in before anyone else could. They had just finished a tier 2 when I walked up. We even did a tier 1 together. And I waited to see if anyone else was going to put their rune in. No one stepped up, so I did. Cosplay Crota should have been no problem for a team of 7 right? Nope. Myself and one other person were the only ones even trying. Two of the others sat down outside the court like it was a -blam!-ing concert. And two more simply stood around in the arena allowing themselves to be killed.
How do we fix this behavior? Well we can't, as far as I can tell. The motivation seems to be, "I'm not getting any rewards, so why should I help you?" You could up the rewards for non-rune users, because there seems to be an annoyingly high chance to get absolutely nothing if you aren't the one who summoned the event. But of course the summoner should always get the best rewards, since they are the one who had to expend the rune.
But we can mitigate the problem, and that solution is quite simple. If the event fails, you get your rune back. That's all there is to it. That's the way it should have been in the first place. You can't stop the trolling, but you can at least remove its effects.
Yea tier 3's you get back if you fail. Honestly mini Crota is not hard at all as long as you have a good sword bearer and a guy with a good lmg and primary
