I haven't had the chance to play TTK yet, and as a veteran of Y1 I'm looking forward to finally being able to step foot back into the game. During my down time I've been able to follow the Reddit, read up on some Grimiore, and think about how I'll be tackling the game that is Destiny. I also decided to give some creative writing a shot, and I'd like to present a short story I wrote on the Crucible. I would like to expand on this rough edition, but am also curious to feedback before I spend more time on it. Here I present what I have as a story so far, and hope you enjoy this short story, as much as I enjoy the game.

Destiny: CRUCIBLE
'This most excellent canopy, the air, look you, this brave o—erhanging firmament, this majestical roof fretted with golden fire.'
— Hamlet, Hamlet Act 2 Scene 2, William Shakespeare, c. 1600.
'Battle is the most magnificent competition in which a human being can indulge. It brings out all that is best; it removes all that is base. All men are afraid in battle. The coward is the one who lets his fear overcome his sense of duty. Duty is the essence of manhood.'
— George S. Patton
Darkness engulfs everything in the vast emptiness of space. Only the murmuring hum of the Ceres Galliot remains, cutting razor-like through the silence of space and nothing. Stars stream by in patterns of light and beauty, the inevitable chaos only moments away. Thoughts of previous conflicts continue to flash vividly through the memory banks my creators endowed to me, strategy and cunning thriving in preparation for the coming games. It seems only a short time before other Guardians are flanking either side of this Awoken prize. The Queen's Web remains unscathed, reflecting majestically off of the instrumental panels. My mark of a Hunter, this cloak that is, although tattered and worn, drapes almost royally from the back of my chair. It distinguishes me from the others, a gorgeous armament of fame and fortune, evidence of a larger struggle against the powerful darkness; against other Guardians.
She's starting to slow. Surrounded by five other ships, the once silent and empty space is filled with a kind of golden fire. As if an intense pressure is taking place, I can feel a liquid sensation take control of my body. Grabbing the cloak from my seat and strapping it to my back, the world around me begins to fade, and my hands begin to become small shimmering particles. As I dawn my hood in anticipation of what's to come, I see the ground of Venus materialize, a banner of iron formed in my right hand.
ALPHA TEAM.
Shaxx's voice rips through the atmosphere, addressing the team of six now grouped together on the far side of the arena. To my right and left stand other, equally proven Guardians, an even number of each. Warlocks, Titans, and Hunters unite as the restriction of movement is lifted; clad in formidable gear, and armed to the teeth. As the match begins, an understanding of urgency resonates between us, and the movement begins as if spurred simultaneously by the force of gods. Two of us rush towards the first capture point. A moment of time to take her, and we have the first flag, boosting our kill-points at the time of contact. Backing off from 'C', there's a straight beeline to take and arrive at 'B', but already shots echo through the resounding area, skulls appear on the HUD, and 'C' is now the fought after point. I hear my teammates materialize behind me, and footsteps follow in quick unison, as they rush back towards where they were downed. One jump, and a blink land me in front of an arch-like entrance to where the contested circle lays. Bullets fly past my head, dodging a few and taking some to my over-shield. I have to remember to be careful.
Quick reflexes, and true aim gifts me a wicked display of Dead Man's Hands, followed by a slide toward the unprotected capture point. The red glint of a sniper makes me sprint almost as soon as I begin to take the position, and hit cover as two from my team get wasted by the distant sharpshooter. Across the map our first capture is falling to the opponent, and I decide to change trajectory as at least three teammates are moving toward my position. Blinking the crevice, two shots miss inches from my body, and the cave in front of me is a welcome sight, and a bit of cover, if not for long. Indications flash over my radar of enemy movement coming from multiple angles, and a void wall springs to life barricading forward movement, followed by a spike grenade which attaches firmly to the ceiling behind me. Cornered, and prepared for the worst I switch to a shotgun in a seconds notice, only to be a second late as a Titan shoulder charges forward--nowhere to go. in an instant after death, I'm re-materializing near 'A', and it's looking like the sides have switched position. Inevitable defeat seems to be our destiny, but the games have just begun.
