Well, people have already mentioned the legendary and class-specific exotic you get at levels 2 and 3, but I would keep leveling up beyond that. Why? Who knows what else Bungie has up their sleeve with the Gunsmith. I wouldn't be surprsied if there were quests at levels 5 or 10.
