EDIT 1.
OK.. So, people are ONLY giving their own opinion as to why THEY wouldn't play it via the matchmaking option, but NOT why we shouldn't be given the OPTION to play it via matchmaking, IF we want to play it like that. People are just saying why it wouldn't work (for them), which is fine, but it would NOT AFFECT them, since they'll still be able to play it as they have been all this time. So please, any one who comments opposing this, please give a valid reasons as to why not give all players a chance to play the raid via matchmaking (we know the consequences), but IF we decide to play it like that, WHY NOT give us the opportunity?
Also, SOME people opposing this additional option to the game are players who are greedy and/or selfish, because they want to be the "only ones" who can get the "raid props" and "show off." For those players, C'mon, lets stop being greedy/selfish. Everyone should get a chance to play the game to its full potential, specially since everyone PAID to PLAY this game.

So, please excuse my ignorance, but since I haven't seen any answers to my question, I'll just ask it...
Bungie - Why can't you just make the raids available as MATCHMAKING as well??? I LOVE the game and I consider myself a gamer (with a personal life with a bunch of responsibilities of course), but it's just sooooooo hard for me to get these raids done!! It's really frustrating because I've been adding a bunch of people as friends, I started getting more involved in forums (just for this reason) and still, I can't get a team going... as of now, I am light level 292 and I just want to do this raid, but I can't get 6 people together when I'm available to play (which I believe I play a lot, you should ask my wife and kids LOL)..
Anyway, putting aside 5-7 hours (for what I hear) is hard enough, but hey, I'll do it just because I love the game, BUT, 5-7 hours PLUS trying to find people to add to your PSN, then finding people at a high enough level, finding people who want to do it, AND FINALLY finding people who can do it at the time that WE can do it, it's just close to impossible..
So, I just wonder, why can't you just add the option to do these raids as matchmaking?? I seriously believe that you as a business, game, company, etc., would get much positive results from people (which would include more people playing the game for longer periods of time, not just the first few weeks when the game is "new"), which in return, i'm sure you'd make more game sales.. And, of course, would make thousand of gamers like myself happy and loyal..
This would give us ALL a chance to play the game the way it was meant to play (beating raids, strikes, etc).. Obviously, people could still create their own fire teams if they wanted, but for the people that it's almost impossible and who just really don't have that extra time to look for people, we can just play it as matchmaking raids.
I really hope Bungie - Destiny could somehow implement this to the game so we can ALL enjoy the game to it's full potential..
Thanks!

Here's an HONEST opinion why Bungie WON'T do it and why they shouldn't. It's a waste of server space. It would be constant backing in and out with little to no raid progression and high server activity.
-
As a computer programmer I can tell you to add "optional matchmaking" would cost ALOT of money and man hours. All matchmaking would be taken down for atleast a week, and probably the ability to join a 3 man fireteam. To add "optional matchmaking" would disrupt the game for a good month. Everyone thinks it is so simple to just add something, but in reality it is not easy at all. So unless you can convince 90% of the gaming world to agree not to play for let's just say a month it will not happen.
-
Bungie should make an option for strikes to be soloed and give raids an option matchmaking it's not that hard to make two options. Some people won't want to do matchmaking for raids but some do and some people want to so strikes alone or with one other person. It should be like custom games on halo and the matchmaking on halo. It's not that hard they've done it before but they just decided to phone in a lot of destiny.
-
You would then have to simplify the boss fights because you can't guarantee coordination between 6 randoms that aren't forced to talk to.
-
OP is high

Wouldn't work too well afks, under equipped players, no mics (a minor issue) people abusing kick option (there would have to be vote to kick which also would be abused). Wouldn't be worth it to deal with that stuff. I'd play neverwinter if I'd want problems like that.
-
I used to have a team to raid but we don't really play much together anymore. So I like the idea of matchmaking for all the noobs, trolls, and lone wolves out there. And for those who say it won't work cause people won't have mics or will just quit out, those are just the risks you take when you play matchmaking for raids.
-
As long as they make it so some random cannot join the game and just stand there without the ability to kick them (the same way this happens in strikes).
-
I think if people don't have time to play or don't have people to play with I don't think you should play a game like this I'm so tired of people saying it's too much of a grind or my job is so long or I have school and only get 30 minutes to play A game like this should take a long time it should be a grind people don't complain about world of Warcraft lots of people love that game and it is like the biggest grindfest of all Look I get it you have a life and that's great and all but stop complaining about destiny the community doesn't need people like you in it you don't like destiny? don't play it. you don't have time to play? well too bad make time or don't complain! Sorry to anybody who disagrees with this but I'm just tired of hearing people complain about an amazing game thank you for your time. I like trees...

Matchmaking won't work, just look at heroic strikes. People constantly leave, and that's just three people. Imagine six, it would be a battle just to keep a full team together. Don't get me wrong, I have issues getting teams together as well, but this won't solve your problems.
-
Agreed, those against cant seem to understand that their play style will not change, all that will happen is more people out there will gather the experience that's demanded by all these players. I tried your method but EVERYTIME I try I get shot down. Explain to me how I'd be able to get experience if no one lets me? You basically go "not day 1 raider? lol tough shit bro". It's pathetic and counter productive, they do it for bragging rights that do more harm to the community than good by simply intimidating anyone less than completely dedicated. Most of us have jobs and responsibilities and would rather spend our time playing and failing, learning along the way than sit there wasting the previous little game time we have to HOPEFULLY create a team that may end up not working either. Matchmaking will change nothing for the veteran raiders, it's not like you suddenly won't be allowed to set up your own teams and not to mention you'll still be fairing better because your playing with the usual crew with experience anyway. It's just bragging rights. There's no discernible reason not to have it.
-
I dont think this will work because low light levels and little to no communication will be an issue.
-
Dude I hear you, so I like the idea of matchmaking. Between the kids and working (chef) I jump on at some odd times, for odd lengths of time. Because of this it has become quite difficult getting five people together who are even on at the same time I am. I have been fortunate to have met some really cool people here, and did so all in the hopes of doing the raids but still have the same problems.. To date I've only done VOG and only once I might add.. Very sad.
-
I hear ya bro im in the same boat, it is a bit of o joke, was trying to get into a raid team yesterday for over 3 hours but they all wanted someone with experience with kings fall, so i was telling them ive been playing destiny from day 1 dont know how much more experience you can get, and like you i have a very busy lifestyle, when i was running first timers threw vog and crota the didnt have to have done it b4 for them to get in so why now is everyone acting like the need a -blam!-ing uni degree to jump in the kings fall raid we are all here cos we have one thing in common we love the game so these ppl the post on the forums must have experience obviously have done the raid b4 should pass there knowledge onto other guardians then that are reaching out to them then they can do the same

I actually agree with your post, and I think it would be something that would make the game more accessible to others. I believe with new IP's, making the game more accessible and amassing more members is something that you want. The big argument is that many believe that people will afk and do nothing which will impact the whole group. I agree it is a problem especially with no system to kick a player. While this may happen there will be other times where the group itself will work together quite well and achieve the goal. I have played World of Warcraft for many years and I have seen this in their "looking for raid" content that they have. Sometimes you have bad groups, just like you will in crucible, strikes, and whatever else you're doing. I believe the downside to a raid matchmaking is the que system itself. Destiny has a lot of players but not everyone does the same thing at the same time. During off peak hours the wait could be extremely long just like the warcraft LFR system is. Those ques can sometimes reach into the hours, but generally you have a 30 minute wait. There would have to be a system in place to allow you to que, while also allowing you to explore, quest, crucible, etc. Essentially the game itself would have to be reworked which they could do, but I don't believe it will ever happen. A cutoff has to be determined by light level, 290, 295, 300 etc. which again as it would require some work to achieve that it would piss some off because regardless what happens or changes in this game its gonna piss someone off. The game is still a new idea to them, but they have a great deal to learn when it comes to the MMO scene. I know they don't want to call it that and it's fine, but it's an MMOFPS.
-
All the people who want matchmaking is clearly because you haven't done the raid myself included so why don't you all add each other and do it together if on the same console?
-
If the raids were match making everyone would be under levelled as hell
