I'm actually going to back NoiselessPurse up here. Here's an abridged version of the Euthyphro Dilemma, for all you theists.
Let's assume that God exists, and that God says Behavior X is good.
Is Behavior X good because God commands it, or does God command behavior X because it's good?
It can't be both, because if it were both then you could have a circular argument proceeding much like the following:
"Why is Behavior X good?"
"God commands it."
"Why does God command it?"
"Because it's good."
Rinse and repeat for all eternity. So it can't be both. Let's go over the options.
If Behavior X is good simply because God commands it, then you may as well be one of those cultists who still sacrifices animals. I'm not willing to say anything farther, but Behavior X could be anything, and by that logic you'd still be forced to say it's good. So it's got to be the other option, right? Think again!
If God commands Behavior X because it's good, then its goodness exists independently of God. Which is to say, God's irrelevant because goodness is caused by something else!
tl;dr God is either arbitrary or irrelevant, by matter of logical necessity.
All of that's assuming God actually exists!
