With the Oryx battle, do you have to just touch the black orbs the ogres left behind or do you have to press something or stay there for a set amount of time?

Stay there for a bit. You'll see the names pop up in the bottom left corner of the screen. Once you see all 4 you bail and head back to middle.

Yes, you should have one of the mine runners do a countdown so they all blow up close to the same time. Makes for having to spend less time sitting in the open and guarantees max damage to Oryx.
