I'm up to 290, played halfway through the raid yesterday, was planning on finishing the raid tonight. But instead, I'm signing off.
I'm just not enjoying it. In MMO parlance, this feels more like a revamp than an expansion. A la SWG NGE. There is little continuance. Why did we have the grief of a 2.0 Weapons release to so-called tune and balance a week before all weapons became trash anyway? It's not like we can infuse our beloved weapons? Well we should have been able to, and someone made a decision to the contrary, breaking the tether between players and Destiny they enjoyed.
Why did I spend the time doing Skolas to trick out gear for Cabal, Vex, Fallen, etc. only to turn around as soon as I got it, and trash it all? Where's the progression? I feel like a rube, a fool, who completely wasted his time doing Skolas (which wasn't all that much fun).
Why as a premiere Guardian who has mastered Atheon and Crota, then on to Skolas (key words "and then on to" aka progression), do I now suddenly feel like a nube guardian full of greens and blues, ragtag gear, no control over burns in my gear bag... basically starting all over in a new game... no control over the cosmetics, the types of weapons "I enjoy" using... when I enjoyed Destiny, and wanted to play an expansion of Destiny; new raids, increase in level cap, some new weapons, some new raid gear... all as a continuance that preserved and valued what we had done thus far. Maybe Bungie would say "well, don't put too much emphasis on Blues, Greens, etc. the fact that you're 290, but full of non-Legendary gear and limited perks." Well, that's counter to Destiny 1, the game I've enjoyed playing and wanted to continue, the perks, the finesse, and working the finesse through effort, skill, and organized principles. Achievement. That's maybe not Destiny 2. Because Destiny 2 is not Destiny.
I think the telling thing, that says Bungie development leadership had lost the plot, was the entire grief of Weapons 2.0, the so-called balancing of G'horn "because it excluded people" when all they had to do was Xur it. People said so, and then Bungie did Xur it. So now no exclusion, as everyone has it and the unique gameplay aspects it brings to the game. So they created grief when they didn't have to (in light of the simple Xur solution), went ahead with 2.0 Weapons anyway (though I didn't perceive much tweaking after all the nonsense and suspect after deciding to Xur it, they backed off on the severity of the nerf), and then only a week later we find out that Weapons 2.0 wasn't even necessary because they were destroying everything by not allowing it to be infused (a la Queens expansion Etheric Light upgrades progression methodogy). No, the right hand of Bungie (the one pursuing balance/nerfing) wasn't in touch with the left hand of Bungie (who would destroy all weapons anyway for all new weapons, greens, and blues), in a disaster of affinity in epic proportions.
Should have been: Champion Guardian taking on new challenges
What we got was: Champion Guardian is starting over as a Noob Guardian in a new game
The revamp of the game is a revamp. It's all over the place, it's starting over. Why is that necessary? I don't want to play Destiny Revamp. I'm not enjoying it or the prospect of having to do all this all over again on two more characters. The thought of that is beyond demoralizing. I don't log in to be demoralized.
Finally, I don't like the Taken, don't like rehashed mobs that have no textures, and really don't like mobs that keep splitting into two and multiplying like rabbits. Sure we can handle it, but its not fun. I don't like it.
Edit Add #1: One of the only things I appreciated about the House of Wolves expansion was that I could bump up my gear with Etheric Light and Exotic Shards, ex. Fatebringer to 365, so that I could choose which to level up (new or old gear for example), at the pace commensurate with my activity level. It all came with us. Not a new game, not a massive revamp delivering foreign game experiences like SWG NGE, but progression of what we liked about Destiny, including our achievements in our gear; burns, Intel/Discipline, perks on gear, etc.
Edit Add #2: Another thing I dislike about the revamp, is the approach to sub classes and adding sub classes the way it is all executed. It's too chaotic. In crucible, it's now a joke like there's essentially two more classes into the fray. Used to be 3 classes times 2 subclasses, made for play with 6 different classes, supers, etc. Now it's 9. It's like every map and type is suddenly a Mayhem match of chaotic noise. You can't have much teamwork, strategy, tactics, coordination, with 9 juggernaut types running around.

I think everyone agrees with you, and people that say they don't are in denial :/

Bump. F**k Bungievision.

EXACTLY! Tonight when doing a quest it stopped counting. I killed about 40 enemies and it counted them as 12. I've had enough with their cheating. Bullets that go around corners, enemies warping so bullets, rockets and everything that might kill them dont work. Its REALLY annoying. I never wanted to get TTK as its too expensive. If it was $20 when I would've got it thinking thats what its worth but now after playing it Its not worth it at all UNLESS your NOT a year 1 player. If your like us that have played it from the start and leveled up 3 characters and able to solo just about anything (I can solo the crota raid but cant solo crota yet. Well, I say yet but now I will never do it). I now have a gimped vault too. ALL the weapons and armor in my vault are all useless. I cant wear any of them as they are all too low. The weapons I took ages to all level up, YES ALL my weapons are leveled up to their max are all now useless. I've had enough. Half done the raid. Its NOT fun, its a grind. I did it once and not interested in finishing it. I'm not even interested in getting my other characters any higher than they are now. I did them up to get 3 swords and thats it so the other 2 are low in their 40s. About 220 maybe?. I just got my main character to 270 and thats where its going to stay. The ONLY way to get me back now is to add a feature to level up ALL my guns. AND, and this is a major one, give us access to ALL exotics at the same time NOT 1 armor and 1 weapon. I have armor I've leveled up and never warn as I need another armor. WHY cant we have all exotic armor at the same time? WHY cant we have all exotic weapons at the same time? Its just a stupid restriction if you ask me. I've never understood why they limit us like that? I really thought year 2 would've got rid of that limitation but it didn't. Buggie, if you want us year 1 players to stay then give us back our weapons and armor. Let us level them up and STOP NERFING everything!!! WHY THE F**K did you make the Ice Breaker to a 8 second recharge? at 5 seconds it was too long already. I guess you wanted us to hate the year 1 weapons so you nerfed them all forcing us to leave them. WRONG! You pisssed us off forcing us to leave the game completely. YOUR LOSS! We will take our money and go elsewhere. If I dont hear our weapons and armor is back and we can have more than 1 exotic at a time there is absolutely no way I'll ever see year 3 of Destiny. I have lots of friends thinking the same. Thats what we chat about when playing your buggy game. We all complain about the bugs and how year 2 sucks. On Year 2, Day 1 everyone in my list was playing Destiny. Today which is not even a week later half are playing other games. They have already left. Tonight I left. I guess by next week maybe 1 or 2 will still be playing it. You nerfed it, you lost us, your loss, you suck. Bye (NOT goodbye as its NOT good what you did)

Bungie is following Planned Obsolescence , Gamers need to unite and stand against this bad business practise. You can learn ore about Planned Obsolescence from following link https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/154593729/0/0/1

I agree with everything here (but the subclass rant.) A mature player should not be forced through the "oh this is exactly what it felt like as a noob" process -- that's what third characters are for. I can see the need for a new gun set for the true Year Two noobs, as the old greens/blues weren't tuned to new demands -- but the rest of us? Bungie totally wasted the opportunity for conversations like this: "Where'd you get that gun?" "This? It's the Vision of Confluence from the Vault of Glass." "Cool, I'll have to do that raid. And the chest piece?" "Raid armor from Crota's End." "Awesome! How'd you level it up?" "Etheric light from the Prison of Elders." "Nice! Can you help me do those so I can get that gear too?" So instead of jumping on a chance to make all Year One content relevant to the Year Two player, they have essentially given the Y2s no reason to have the above conversation and Y1s' vast store of game experience is rendered as meaningless as the skills of a typewriter repairman. They've blown the opportunity to broaden the community by tossing the Etheric Light mechanic.

I must say that I too am particularly dismayed with the fact that all year 1 gear is now obsolete with TTK... All of that work on strikes, raids, Trials, and POE's means nothing as it relates to the gear - I mean, it was all obsolete with TTK launch and like after an hour or so playing the game and you started to find gear that was more powerful (in terms of light level - might be lacking the perks but...). For the life of me, I do not understand why Bungie doesn't allow us to infuse year 1 gear with year 2 gear (I mean, I know why - they want to move on and force us to use year 2 gear, but that alienates ALL of the year 1 fans and players). That would solve SOOOOO many problems and feelings of wasted time accumulating ALL of that gear only to have it become obsolete an hour after playing TTK. I mean, we'd still HAVE to use year 2 gear to infuse with year 1 gear so there would be no getting around that IF we wanted to bring our old gear up to par. Quite frankly, SOME of the new year 2 gear is cool enough that I'd use them over some of my year 1 gear but I would like to have that choice - let me choose whether or not I want to use my Y1 Fatebringer hand cannon or Y2 Hung Jury scout rifle. Why would this be so bad? A FEW GENERAL COMMENTS ON TTK ~ Some of the new armor and weapon perks are pretty cool and clever - I like them overall. Bungie did okay with that! ~ The swords are pretty darn, nice! Like the fact that you can use them offensively AND defensively! ~ The Taken enemies are actually fun and interesting to fight - Bungie did alright with that too! ~ LOVE the dreadnought!!! Can't wait to unlock more of its secrets! ~ Love the enhanced vault space and quest/mission capacity! ~ I actually like the revamped experience vs light leveling up - I like how light enhances your toughness and damage potential. ~ Wish we still had more in game storytelling!!! ~ Love the more involved Vanguard in TTK - this is a definite improvement... ~ Love the 3rd sub-classes! (Note: The Titan Sunbreaker is OP in PvP - friggin' up to 8 hammer throws!?!?!?! I saw one player take out 3-4 players with ONE hammer throw - and they can get up to 8!?!?! WTFRAK!) ~ I hope Bungie revises the plan and allows us to infuse year 1 gear with year 2 gear using the same mechanics (more powerful gear to augment a same class less powerful item) - that would be GREAT! But, I doubt that will happen...lol Anyhoo, just a few thoughts to add to the discussion. :)

Thanks for all the great posts. I came back to check the dialogue, and have not touched Destiny since posting the OP, nor will I ever. Bungie has demonstrated that any time spent in Destiny is time wasted. Said many statements about the Guardian who took down Atheon, Crota, and Skolas. A complex set of gear (that we were able to choose how to evolve over time, example given to Fatebringer 365), that included all of diverse burns set up for all types of hardware needed ... that means that if a sniper rifle was needed, Arc burn, I had it. A rocket launcher with Void burn, I had it. You name it, I had it. Don't Touch me gloves? I had it. I also had the gear to accompany Don't Touch Me or St. 14 or anything else you can name, that when I needed to use it, I could pull out gear that max'd Intel/Discipline in kind. I had it. A rocket launcher that was good for crucible, with detonate when proximate to the enemy? I had it. I had it. I had it. I had it. I had it. I had it. I had it. I had it. I had it. I had it. I had it. I had it. I had it. I had it. I had it. You name it. I had it. I had it. I had it. I earned it. I want to start leveling that up as time permits in my schedule, my choices, where I choose Fatebringer to go to 290 Light, or Ice Breaker, or my Arc Sniper, or my Arc Shotgun... or a new piece of gear instead? I should have had that choice. A choice for continuance to build upon what I had already achieved. Not starting over in all the dimensions of gameplay, not start over as a newbie Guardian, divested of all the accomplishments and prep I had worked. All the dimensions... I had it. My gear, my weapons of choice, my perks of choice, my type of Primary, my Armor stat choices, my perk choices... my my my choice choice choice accomplishment accomplishment accomplishment. I am not starting over to waste my time all over again for another 1,300 hours when I was just shown that it is all a complete waste of time. Anything we accomplish, anything we style, anything we prep... ... will all be wiped by Bungie. Every moment when I felt like I had accomplished something, knocked off another task and acheivement from my "readiness" and "to do list" was all a lie and a false accomplishment. Ergo... I'm a complete fool to continue playing. They've just made the statement loudly and clearly that it is a complete waste of time. There is no leveling and progression. Every accomplishment is temporary, to be wiped.

This is why we should BOYCOTT BUNGIE AND ACTIVISION... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bD80DQv2o44

So... you're new to MMOs? This is how it works and has always worked. There's no logic behind "I worked hard to be awesome and want to stay awesome throughout all the new stuff!" If you were keeping all your stats at full, there's nowhere to HAVE the "progression" you claim to want. There'd also be no challenge to the new content, and it would be a very boring addition. Get over yourself.
-
One of the main reason I didn't get TTK was because off all the changes that were comming. I didn't like the sound of any of them. I'm so glad I didn't give in and buy it. I played destiny every day since release and to just stop would have been hard if they kept things the way they used to. (I loved all my vanilla upgraded weapons and gear)
-
Tbh I have no problem with the update or weapons 2.0...the fact that I have a whole load of new weapons to tinker with and new armour perks to make things more exciting. I've played a fair amount of TK and i'm enjoying it, going to wait until later to try the raid as i'm playing through the new quests and trying to master the shadowshot. Do I miss my ghorn? Hell yes, but, i'm glad I don't use it anymore, it made things too easy...same with FB and BH. Amazing weapons but they destroyed the game for me because why would you use anything else when you can kill everything with those three guns.
-
..but for real though.

I agree, but still find some enjoyment out of it. The questing is a very welcomed aspect of the game, but when that's all done and said with, I won't have to much to do. Sure there is the Raid but, it's hard to get a "pug" group together that knows what to do. This new raid is for those people that are in a Clans, and won't rage quit after the first signs of trouble. The new subclasses are fun and exciting, but makes the first 2 classes feel obsolete and doesn't seem as powerful. And except for a few players I have seen, this new subclass is all that is used. I was playing Call of Duty AW, and noticed why the weapons just work in those games, because they are familiar and very rarely changed as the COD series continues, (in spite of those few overpowered weapons that everyone seems to use most), they are very well balanced, and we can customize it by putting sight, grabs, butt stocks, etc... On them, I know you can in Destiny but it just different........I miss my Fatebringer. Destiny is a game that is caught between two worlds, a kind of sort of MMO, and a shooter. The amount of content that is put out by Bungie just isn't enough to continue to play for months on end. This cycle they are on, just seems to appear, New Area, couple of missions, Raid. Everything before it, no need to see it again. If they would make a couple of Raids at a time like WoW does. Then it would hold those gamers over before the next expansion. But it's still a good game and will always continue to support with my hard earned money, thanks for the good times Bungie.

Edited by Gunship: 9/21/2015 7:36:06 AMThe TTK 'expansion' is basically the World of Retardcraft Shooter edition with WAY WAY WAY less content. And I don't mean like w.o.w. from 10 years ago when there was some fun in it. I mean the insta ADHD version with a billion things to collect and manage that is more of like Dungeons and Dragons for horders. The TTK has basically made EVERYTHING TAKE LONGER. They Removed the limit on how many of the new Legendary Marks you can earn in a week. Yahoo! oh wait - they removed it because now there is no need to limit it. The Heroic Strike that earns 10 Legendary marks is set at Lvl 41. The regular TTK Strike playlist gives NO MARKS. They claim to have made the bosses less bullet Spongy. Yahoo! oh wait - by raising the heroic strike to level 41 they effectively changed EVERY MOB INTO A BULLET SPONGE. The TTK Heroic Strike Playlist TAKES FOREVER TO GET THROUGH IF YOUR GROUP EVEN BOTHERS TO FINISH. They Made Rep easier to earn. Yahoo! oh wait - they changes the rep rewards so now when you get a reputation package THE LEGENDARY GEAR IT CONTAINS WILL NOT BE AT THE FULL 280 Value!!!! You Literally have to 'infuse it' by scrapping gear with better stats and spending 3 of those Legendary Marks that are a pain to earn now, and even then it will take several infusions to get it up to the level you need it to just to have a CHANCE at finishing the Heroic Strikes. They added new Strikes. Yahoo! oh wait - they all suck and are basically running from one bullet sponge infestation to the next. It is really bad when a 290 exotic Auto rifle can be shot at a 41 Yellow enemy (not a boss) for a 60 seconds and doesnt kill it before it 2 shots me. Edit: I was shooting it in the head that long. They made new weapons. Yahoo! oh wait - they all look like shit - feel like shit - take a million bullets to kill anything. They added new interesting chests. Yahoo oh wait - they take keys i don't have and when i do get them i will never remember were the stupid chests are. They added new mobs. Yahoo! oh wait - they just reskinned the old ones - made them move completely like crap and added invulnerability if one of there buddys shoots a ray at them from behind. They added new particle effects and graphics. Yahoo! oh wait - In addition to all the other nonsence BS light effects that they throw in our faces while we are trying to see things that we are doing, now we can add the Fake'n throwing balls of 'you can't see shit' at us. If we buy TTK we will be able to enjoy the game more. Yahoo! oh wait - IT WAS ACTUALLY MORE FUN TO PLAY TTK ERA DESTINY WITHOUT TTK!!! Every activity that I have done after 2.0 but before buying the TTK 'expansion' was more enjoyable than the same activity was after TTK and reaching level 40!!!! Patrol - more a pain in the ass Strike - more a pain in the ass POE - more a pain in the ass All the mobs are more a pain in the ass TTK Destiny is the least enjoyable combat yet in this game. Edit: In fairness we did get more of the always awesome Nathan Fillion :)

I agree with most of this

Damn. Huge indictment on Bungie here.
Why play any game ever then? Why play battlefield when another will come out in a year making the old one pointless? Why do that with cod, why play madden when next year you get updated rosters? Why play racing games when there will be new dlc and cars that are better? Why play anything then?
Edited by MatrixasISeeFit: 9/20/2015 11:32:57 AMGreat post! In other games (especially mmos) you can become a powerful badass for a good while. In Destiny, that power is short-lived to 3-4 months. Every DLC has taken power away from the player in some form or another. How many people have said to themselves "I did all that work for nothing?"This basically makes Destiny a hamster-wheel. Players deserve more... Players should demand more.

Edited by Airboy: 9/20/2015 11:16:31 AMThank you so much for this feedback. English is not my main language. i can understand well but im not good in writing..all what you did said is what i think too. Thanks. we need to boycott this game Right NOW!.or we still labor rats that works on destiny!

Edited by All Skulls On: 9/20/2015 1:49:50 PMThank you for your eloquent thoughts on TTK. I've been waiting for the dust to settle so somebody could finally string together some coherent words on what they actually thought of it other than "worst game ever / best game ever". It sounds like TTK is like paying $40 to "prestige".

Yes, it's wack a mole and we are the moles. Every time we think we are getting out of the hole... BAM... Back you go.

Superb, well written and articulate description of a truly dispicable business model created to milk as much from the gaming community without concern for fairness or morality I honestly hope this sinks them. Most of the best people have left the company anyways

I'm only here till fallout and halo come out then I'm out! This game will die with the fanboys standing in the rain mourning there loss.

Im still waiting to see all these "new and improved, More weapons than all Year 1 Destiny" So far almost every guns.. Besides the new three Brands, are reskins. To me thats not new. And why are almost all the Sidearms Glocks lol. Are there any similar to The Dynasty on in HoW? Or are they all just the same.
