Currently I have endless spinmetal and an obscene amount of spirit bloom from my days of chest farming the week before house of wolves.
I have 45 helium fillimants. My legendaries conveniently are starting to demand helium. If I'm looking into this horrible future now it's only a matter of time before you do as well.
Now for players that played destiny before roughly a month or so into the game we experienced the hell that was needing to run in circles from node to node, chest spawn to chest spawn in patrol looking for planetary materials and hoping the random you find in patrol didn't scoop up all the chests on the other side of the area.
The moon was my least favorite because archers line farming was "find the yellow things in this huge white space". The route for helium there is still burned into my mind.
Now we're in legendary marks which for a currency we "have no cap as far as how many we can earn" definitely seems to have a daily cap of how many we can earn. Sorry deej but I'm officially claiming that statement as the "all that isn't skybox it's playable space we want to take you" of year two because it couldn't be further from what's happening in game.
Adding mats for marks was a smart move. Making said marks severely limited as to how we earn them isn't and it directly undoes the quality of life upgrade you did last year.
The ghost abilities for pointing out materials are cool but you could have flashing neon lights above all the materials and I would still have a physical revulsion to spending time in patrol simply so that I can run in circles opening chests.
Please fix this before anyone has to relive that misery. Marks need to be less stingy or prices need to be brought down significantly.

I have just enough. I can't use em on armor or guns anymore. My weps and armor is above 280. I could use em on my other toons though. Still. It's enough. Do those quests!
-
Has anyone else noticed the daily control match gives 10 marks for EACH match, I've gotten 100 from 10 matches already
-
You can buy material from vendors.
-
U can actually do a selected crucible or strike as many times as u want in the week. Wins are needed to be rewarded but 10 marks easy all u want. Doing the math just the daily stuff will get one more by the end of week than before so stack on the extra 10 and occasional bit from some quest and you might be surprised.
-
I actually find myself deleting mats from having too much. Plus the new legendary ghost shells have mats flowing from engrams
-
Give it 3 weeks and you'll have more marks than you can ever spend. Once your gear is above 280 there is no need to buy any vendor gear. At the moment it seems like you'll have to farm mats again but I have a feeling that won't be lasting much longer, especially if you have 3 characters at 280.
-
You can get as many as you want a week, you used to be able to only get 100 of each vanguard and crucible but now you can get as much as you want a week. I dont know why everyone is complaining. I'm never running low. My highest character is 294 light and I haven't run the raid once.
-
It's not hard to get marks, you don't even need to use as many once you have over 290 gear. Then you can run the daily, dismantle lower legendaries and your fine. Not a big deal.
-
Anyone that says they get 400 L marks a week really need to reevaluate their lives. LIKE DAFAWK

Edited by ogAllen: 9/22/2015 11:28:53 PMTo the ones that are saying they are getting 400+ a week. Simply tell us. I'm so lost. Daily PvE story and PvP match is 15 per. That's 30. Three weekly heroic strikes is 10 per. That's 30. Some quests now and then give about 15-25? Not sure. Does the Nightfall give? I forgot. I just want the Y2 Red Death lmao. EDIT: Plus I hate the fact that playing PvP does not give marks like they did before when we had Vanguard/Crucible marks. I understand that before it would give us about 6 per game we play, and if that were to happen now, we'd be sitting on a big pile of them. So why not decrease the amount? How about 1-3? Also that Public Events don't give squat. What's the whole point of them? Why not remove them if they're not going to benefit us in any way. At least give us ONE Legendary Mark for doing the Public Events. So pointless.
-
You need to play better. I've gotten about 400 marks so far this week.
-
Edited by roman_emp85: 9/21/2015 8:18:35 PMThere's no -blam!-ing reward or way to progress for players who like to play pvp over pve. In year one you could. Why the hell did Bungie revert back to a currency system that is cheap and slavery.
-
I have about 2000 of each material type and Variks keeps giving me more of each. I literally cannot spend it fast enough.
-
I think patrols should reward planet material.
-
marks do indeed seem to have a daily cap because I just ran 3 heroic stokes and never got any marks
-
Edited by Nykthos: 9/22/2015 6:43:57 PMBump, vendors should sell upgrade materials for glimmer
-
This system is way better than before. Before there was that cap, so you need to wait for the next week to grind about those coins again. This time you dont have cap, and you can earn how much you want. Maybe you have a ton of quests or something, and you do them all in the same day + heroic strikes + daily, you earn alot of marks. Ofc you earn less in some days if you dont have quests ect.
-
I remember the dark times. I still grab them out of habit even if I don't need them.
-
-
The problem is simply because most people are using legendary marks at the moment to either buy gear or infuse gear. I personally am sitting on like 5 marks? But I've also done a ton of infusion and got myself up to item level 290 for the raid. But after that I don't have much reason to do infusions except for hard mode oryx raid when it's out (don't think it is now)
-
It's another way to artificially extended play time, duh lol. They want you to have to do that, that's why the marks come from so few places. It's all about keeping the hours up.
-
You can get up to 25 as a random drop is strikes & crucible, speaking from personal experience
-
The only thing I use marks for is infusing gear. Got to over 100 marks pretty easily and that's after I got all my characters up past 280. It won't be long before people just use marks to buy engrams and mats because they don't know what else to do with them.
-
Couldnt agree more. Maybe even making all currency and materials a little more interchangeable. Using glimmer or motes to buy different amounts of materials would be nice. Or even just going back to gaining legendary marks from patrol missions, strikes, public events, etc. Either way, something needs to change asap.
-
As another has said, once you find a legendary ghost with material extractor you will be fine. The perk works for only one type of material, but for every single engram you pick up on that materials planet, you also receive 3-5 of that planets material
-
If you need material find a ghost with material extractor perk. I've got 200 plus worm spurs from picking up engram from patrol on dreadnought.
