Try this: You bought a movie on blu-ray. One year later the extended version comes out. You do not purchase it.
Now all scenes that have extended content added to them are unwatchable by you on the blu-ray that you purchased.

That makes no sense tard-blam!-. You still have your old content but since you didnt get the disc with special features you dont get those special features. Nothing has been taken away from you.
