You do realize destiny will not be the same base game for 10 years (every 2nd year will be a full new game), so they only had to do it for 2 more small expansions which they could've handled the same way as tdb or HoW in terms of new playlists. Secondly the taken king requires both HoW and TBD in order to play it, that's why the "new" vanilla destiny is the base game + how + TDB + TTK. It isn't uncommon for companies to do this because it makes it harder to have to many splits so old content is commonly bundled or (I'm going to say a bad word here) [spoiler]for free[/spoiler] to avoid this. The ttk is 40$ and base + HoW + TDB = other 20. If you preorder you only payed 10$ for the old stuff. The game should only have 2 divisions, those with TTK, and those without, and those without should have all they features and content available before TTK dropped.
