Every software developer on the planet does the same thing when they sell you a box with a disk or an activation code inside. They're selling you a license to use their product/service. The only part about the game your actually own is whatever physical objects you received when you purchased your license. People can make all the analogies, good or bad, but it doesn't change the way software licensing works. Is it fair? Probably not. Unfortunately, your only recourse is to take your money elsewhere. Whatever business model they decide to use to use, playing $40 for a DLC module is pretty cheap entertainment, compared to going out to the movies/bar/club or paying for premium cable TV channels I'll never watch, so that's why I bought it.[/spoiler]
