So yeah, the title says it all.
(No, I'm not an 8 year old crying for attention because I made a mistake. Just hear me out.)
Basically, I was running a strike and got half way through it until I picked up a rare heavy that had dropped. Having Sol Edge equipped, I opened my inventory, went to my heavy slot, and looked to see if the rare was any good. Seeing that it wasn't something I needed and at the same time noticing that I was needed in the strike, I hurriedly went about trying to delete it but instead I equipped the rare and held down the button to dismantle (because Sol Edge moved to the slot that the rare had recently occupied) and BOOM! Before I could take my finger off the button, It got dismantled into a ruin, some materials, and a few marks. Thinking to myself, you're an idiot. You're really an idiot. After I stopped staring at the screen in shock and horror, I went and finished the strike so my Fireteam (randoms) wouldn't have to wait on me.
So yeah, I'm feeling pretty stupid right now. Honestly, I wouldn't be so mad if I could get the sword back. Even if that means grinding for another hour. I would do it. But I can't. Because I can't get the quest again. I can't get all three swords unless I deleted a character. I don't want to have to do all the stuff again on one of my characters for the sword. I would though, happily do the quest again to get the Sol Edge sword back on my hunter. In the end, it's just a video game. But, I was already so attached to that sword that I felt sad when I saw it go.
I would really like to get all three swords and not have to re-do a character for something so simple as a few button presses/holds.
Could this be food for thought Deej?
Bump if you think that a second chance for the "Sword Quest" should be an option.
(I don't think that it would be a problem with people farming materials from it because of it taking so much time to complete. It really wouldn't be worth dismantling)

There's a reason the lock feature exists... You just found the reason.
-
you could just get a 280 version from exotic blue-prints... not 310...but not much else you can do.
-
People would abuse
-
-
I messed up like that a long time ago..... Just lock your favorite guns/armor so that doesn't happen again.
-
Lesson learned.
-
Boo hoo. You should've paid attention. Also who doesn't LOCK their exotics?
-
Edited by A4EEL007: 10/25/2015 1:39:07 PMLock your weapons moron. Deej can't really give a fix for stupid people.
-
You can just get another from the weapons kiosk and keep infusing. Yeah, it sucks, but it's better than the old days when you'd be SOL.
-
You should have locked it.
-
Edited by X P IL ii C i T: 10/25/2015 1:43:01 PMLock your weapons to prevent this happening?
-
Lock your valuable weapons from now on, that way you can't accidentally infuse or delete it
-
Cough* lock it dumbass cough*
-
LOCK your stuff dumbass
-
Wow you are dummbb
-
Idk why people are so insulting towards you. In vanilla I broke down my Atheons episode by accident. Once they added the ability to lock gear I now lock everything. Bungie definitely should make it possible to get it back. They have exotic blueprints in the tower which is essentially the same concept. Why can't we just replay the mission and get the sword back? Throw it in the blueprints because there are only 3 legendary swords? Idk just seems like a simple fix.
-
everyone does understand that there is a unlock and lock feature on gear and weapons now right, with something like the swords you should lock that as soon as you get it, sorry but that your loss. only thing you can do now is put everything into vault or on other characters if you dont have room and level up again.
-
Can't you go to your blueprints and buy it?
-
Oh dude, Raze Lighter is the best sword too, get rekt
-
That's a bummer man, I would hate to delete a character and have to start everything all over again. Hopefully they do address this. As with the lock feature make it a habit to just lock everything you're interested in. Even if it's some crappy high level blue. Lock it. If it's in your inventory it should be locked. Had happen to me many times where I've deleted a legendary because I wasn't really paying attention and it was beside a blue. Just make locking a habit. Lock everything and you should be in a good position to never ever make topic like this again.
-
Commiserations. If it's any consolation I infused mine into my heavy because it's the worst exotic sword imo
-
I have deleted exotics by accident, before they allowed us to lock them. Ouch! It hurt but you gotta move on. Now I make sure when I get anything legendary or exotic I lock it immediately, even if I know I may dismantle or store in the vault. Hopefully they will give us the chance to run the quest again.

Edited by Suck It TREBEC: 10/25/2015 1:21:53 PMThat does suck. Next time I bet you'll lock important items.
-
Yeah it's a no brainer you should get the quest again of your sword is deleted. Since you need the 25 hadium flakes there is no exploit for this.
-
I deleted a sword during week one of ttk, I thought there would be swords in heavy weapon drops etc and I needed the final 3 marks to buy a y2 red death. I had to delete and restart a fully levelled warlock to get another one. I will never delete a sword again.
-
This is why you lock your good weapons. Then u have no chace of accidental deletion
