Edited by BlinksAlot: 12/23/2015 12:12:29 PMIv delt with 3 confirmed diagnosed cases and they were all fairly different from each other in personality but shared a common temperment of being naroticaly agressisve however on medication one of them seems particularly different almost subdued and uncharacteristically passive but the other two are otherwise normal more evened out. If they legitimately are bipolar than they are none of the above in the poll, they are unfortunate people with a disorder.

Depends on the severity of the condition
-
A disorder, itself, doesn't make you a good or bad person.
-
They're good people they just can't control their emotions. I've worked with many people with mental and physical disabilities volunteering and I've learned they're just like people without disabilities. They have the same feelings and urges as us. They just have a hard time expressing their feelings and their emotions.
-
Kind of have a love-hate relationship with it
-
Having bipolar doesn't make you a bad person. No one wants to have it.
-
Bi-polar = I want an excuse to be an asshole from time to time.

The amount of misconceptions in this thread... Bipolar disorder is categorized by at one moment, being very depressed, then the next, being very manic (happy or ecstatic). Bipolar does not include anger management problems or really any other emotions (this might have changed in the DSM V, I have not looked it up yet). It's a disorder that the person suffering from it can not control. It would be equivalent to calling a child with downs syndrome a bad child. It is a serious mental disorder that needs to be handled by a trained professional. Now, do people that do not have bipolar disorder claim they do and use it as an excuse, yes. Those people need to be properly educated and need to see a trained professional for their anger management and other possible personality or mental disorders they might have.

They're people with a mental illness. That's all there is to it.
-
In my opinion, mental illnesses do not define people. It's how they treat their mental illness that defines them.
-
I hate being bipolar it's fùcking awesome.
-
Well they're certainly not "normal", but I don't have anything against anyone because of a mental illness. They can be good or bad just like anyone else.
-
Really fun to have sex with. But then they destroy your life.
-
There's a girl who goes to my college who has bipolar disorder. She's incredibly violent towards anyone who doesn't agree with her views on anything, and she's attacked students before.
-
It's a challenge, that's for sure. I knew a woman that was seriously bipolar. We'd get calls from Vegas from her, then she'd disappear for a few weeks into her apartment. We started to worry we'd get a call that she either offed herself or died drinking or partying

Bipolar Aka "I cant control myself but its not my fault and theres nothing i can do so accept meee!!!" you're not schizophrenic you're just a lazy bitch
-
My friend's dad is bipolar. He's awesome most of the time, but there are times when he acts completely differently.
-
My brother has bipolar and it kinda manifested during the end of elementary year where he was being disruptive and disorderly. Kinda wish it didn't take a toll on his education since the damage was severely dealt.
-
My mom has bipolar, she screams at me then try's to say sorry... It's not fun.

Edited by Ghostie: 9/16/2015 3:11:35 PMSaying people with bipolar disorder are bad crazy people is like grouping those with PSTD in the same category. Both are not like themselves during an episode but neither are bad crazy people. Just because you (person reading this) has had bad experiences with those with bipolar disorder, definitely doesn't mean everyone who has it is a bad crazy person. Get over yourself and stop making generalizations. Edit: person reading who believes everyone with a disorder is a batshit crazy person
Sincerely, someone who has bipolar disorder onset from PTSD.
Edited by gengygaming: 9/16/2015 9:25:07 AMSome people you can tell more than others. Easier to talk to when they're super depressed ironically.
-
I've known people that are bipolar including people close and it really depends on the person. Some people are just naturally bad people even if they have bipolar or not and that's just how the world works. People that are nice and have bipolar are completely equal in my eyes as long as they seem like good people.

I had a bipolar geography teacher who was a -blam!-ing physco!

They make fairy good artists, if they are more in their manic phase more of the time. It makes them creative and outgoing. Robin Williams was seen to have bipolar disorder. He was classic manic depressive. When he was manic he was making movies and improvising. When he was depressed he hid himself and many people had no idea about him till he died. Bi polar people are still people and a lot have given us some great art with it.
