I am having the same issue, I bought the $40 but wanted to upgrade. I noticed the two prompts but one of them just said legendary edition, I didn't know that one was the upgrade so I just bought the $40 expansion thinking I purchased it separately. If you hear anything can you post it as a thread? I will do the same if bungie answers me.
