I bought eight Destiny-themed RedBull cans solely to redeem the codes for focused light. Out of the eight that I bought only four worked.
The other four gave me the message: "This code has already been redeemed on another account. Please verify the code you’ve entered is correct. For more information, see the Destiny Code Redemption FAQ. (2002)".
I am quite frankly appalled that the lax code generator used on the cans has been so easily manipulated that redeeming codes have such a high failure rate. I have contacted RedBull individually for each of the four can codes and provided pictures of each can as proof but RedBull has yet to respond. I first contacted RedBull last week. I am remiss at RedBull and Bungie for putting on such a poor promotion and failing to rectify this problem. I know RedBull is primarily responsible for this promotion but Bungie is the reason the promotion exists in the first place and they have passed off responsibility for handling these code issues.
If anyone with decision making abilities reads this, please add something in the next weekly update to let people know what steps are being taken to ensure people who had their can codes rejected (i.e. stolen) are compensated.
