Give in all public events, get to about level 38, then give in bounties until level 40. Then do Nightfall if my light level is high enough, then do Story missions.

I think the NF will be tied into the story if they follow the past two DLCs

The strikes are qll endgame now, so they aren't part of the story but are available after it. I imagine that the Nightfall won't be available until you've compled the story.
