I watched my mum die of cancer 3 years ago. She looked nothing like the mum I remember, she'd lost a hell of a lot of weight and she wasn't that big to start with, she was all skin and bone. Happened quite fast too. One minute we were visiting her at home and the next she was in hospital with a few hours left to go. I really, really don't want to go out that way.

  • My dad died in his bed at home. The people at the hospital couldn't save him and he wanted to be at home when he died. He looked like a corpse about a week before he died.

  • It's a horrible thing to see and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. The worst part is I when I try to remember her, I keep seeing how she was in her last few hours. Sorry to hear about your dad, it's hard losing a parent. I didn't take it well and we weren't close, we hadn't spoken properly for years. My wife got us talking again about 3 years before she died. That was hard enough i'd hate to think how it would be watching someone close die like that.

  • I was 8 or 9 when my dad died but he was usually at working from morning till night so I never really got to know him that well or it seemed that way. His death honestly didn't effect me much at all if any. My mom's death this last Christmas though really effected me. My bro, her, and I pretty much stayed together for 33 years. Came home Christmas morning from work and she was asleep. Checked back on her a hour later and she had died in her sleep. She was 72 and in bad health from smoking so it wasn't really unexpected. Sorry about your dad as well. Life is shit sometimes.
