Look dude, my moms first husband was a drug addict. He started with marijuana. While he was under the influence, his friends got him into cocaine. He then proceeded to get into crack. Then heroin. And one day, he was sent to jail for 5 years. He left two kids and a wife behind. That was 20 years ago. Luckily, she met my father and now she's happy. I'm never getting into that shit. But I do believe that, in preposterously small doses... yes, it could be sold. If it doesn't affect your mind and judgement. But after hearing me out, ask yourself. Do you really want to take that chance?

If he didn't do mj he probably would have stayed with your mom and you wouldn't have been born. Mj is the reason you're alive man.
the benefits out weigh the bullshit 'risks'
I... actually never thought of it that way... please feel free to read all my replies, I believe you'll find the arguments presented by other forumers very interesting

Edited by UniversalRemote6969: 9/13/2015 12:15:05 AMThank you for not turning this into a big argument. These forums might have hope after all

If only people rationally commented on posts instead of just swearing and saying jiberish all the time, people might actually enjoy their stay in these forums. But this too has its pros, as finding people that are willing to have a rational conversation with you in these forums is ever so enjoyable

As someone who has only smoked pot and done a couple things (LSD and shrooms) I will NEVER EVERR IN MY ENTIRE LIFETIME try anything but those 3 things, cigarettes and booze. It's not a gateway drug, you said it yourself he was peer pressured into trying coke. I'll kick my friends in the balls if they try that shit on me. It's 1 thing to smoke weed and life a normal life. Meth, heroin, coke, crack, ect. Those will -blam!- your life up. I mean absolutely destroy your life then they'll kill you. Weed though? No. Weeds fine. Just know what moderation is.
-
Totally agree. I just put this post out there to show that even though it doesn't happen frequently, it can be a gateway drug. However, I totally and fully support those who choose to do marijuana and wish to legalize it, as long as there is enough moderation and our young are restricted from it. It should be legal in controlled doses. I didn't mean to say no to marijuana with my post, I wanted to say "think about it carefully, this may happen". Just... trying to make people understand what could go wrong, you know?
-
Well your mom's ex was a weak easily influenced dude. Sorry chap but the "stepping stone" theory on weed is just utter bs.
-
I agree, weak minded people should not try any kind of substance they can't handle. I feel sorry for and for his wife and kids. If he was a wise man he would have been in the right mind not to try any substance at all, what kind of father jeopardizes his life knowing he had a family to take care of.
-
Look man, I'm just not making that gamble. However, I support the legalization of weed and believe it's for the best. I just want it to be restricted to responsible adults, not teenagers and kids, and to be sold in controlled doses. If said requirements are made, I'm totally for legalizing weed.
-
Oh of course! Doesn't matter how much better than alcohol or tobacco it is, it's still a drug. No kid or teenager should be able to get the stuff easily and I think legalizing it would make that happen.
-
Agreed. If it was legal on the first place I bet people wouldn't bat an eyelash. I mean seriously, I've been supporting a few awareness campaigns about smoking and all that, and I'm fully aware that Marijuana doesn't physically hurt your body as much as any other product/drug that I am aware of. Yet, there is a saying were I'm from, and literatly translated it means "Safety died of old age". It's sort of our way to say "you could risk it, but you probably shouldn't". However, if people are willing to take that risk, I have no moral high ground to tell them they can't. Your life is your own after all, and you may do with it as you see fit (as long as it doesn't negatively affect someone else, that is)

One bad story does not make a case against it, the vast majority of people who smoke pot never go on to use anything else. If anything smoking pot has guaranteed I'll never use another drug, I like smoking pot a lot and honestly can't imagine enjoying life as much if I wasn't allowed to use pot in my leisure time. It's fun and it's harmless, why wouldn't I want to? The fact is though that it's so fun and I enjoy it so much that I'm scared at what these hard drugs must feel like, I've seen every episode of Drugs, Inc. (the National Geographic TV documentary series) and all those drug addicts they interview talking about addiction and how good their drugs feel and how they can't help themselves but use more, and frankly I'm terrified of ending up like that. I know how good pot feels, and if those hard drugs are so much better then I don't know how I'd ever be okay with being sober again after experiencing that kind of high. I don't want that for myself, and I will never use any hard drugs all the moreso for knowing what mild drug use is like.

Dude you just went into my mind, saw my thoughts and put it on a post. Im just like you, I love smoking weed but I'm utterly scared of harder drugs. Like Louis CK said "drugs are so fukn good, that they will ruin your life."
-
I believe that moderation is key. Personally, I'm terrified of drugs, but I understand where you guys are coming from and agree it should be legal in small enough doses. Otherwise, people will just get into it illegally, making contact with other harder, deadlier drugs easier. So yeah, legalize weed (with moderation).
