Petition to Never Use Classic Rock in a Destiny Advert Again

After seeing the Japanese add, I cant even laugh at how shitty the American one is.
Who do these adds even appeal to?
EDIT: Lets not make assumptions about musical taste. Any form of popular music would have been inappropriate. Pop, rap, rock... most popular songs.
EDIT 2: Once again, this is not an attack on classic rock or any particular genre. This is about misleading advertising and out of place music in shitty commercials. All the money they spent on it... its trash.

EDIT: I gotta say, I am amazed how few people get the thread.
The vast majority of the posts on this thread essentially boil down to thinking I am insulting a 70s Rock Band and like Dubstep. As though the entire point of the thread flew over their heads and was completely lost on them. I guess I cant expect less from children.
But I will say this: I was wrong about the advert.
The advert is still an embarassing and misleading schlock epic: money burning on the screen, portraying Destiny as a game of one liners and awesome fist pumping ACTION when in reality, its a very slow moving old school sci fi universe that is highly confusing and has no one liners or bro action AT ALL.
But I thought an advert like this would be completely ineffective. I thought it would be a massive failure around here. But I was wrong, since apparently all it takes is a popular song and some schlock get people excited.
Damn shame that.

I'm extremely happy dub step wasn't used. The majority of the people creating your games grew up or appreciate and enjoy this type of music. If your really that upset over the music choice...your grasping at straws with salt crusted eyes.

1 ReplyI'm beginning to notice the connections between two Activision titles anymore. New Exotic is basically an AK-47 Classic rock tune to an Action style trailer. Destiny Advanced Warfare anyone? Little nudges to CoD have been happening for a longtime, it's bugging me. I don't hate CoD, I used to play black cops 1 & 2. But it's campaign mode was fairly routine and even I figured out the "plot twist". And I'm as thick as a shit sandwich. The multiplayer was fun, that's CoDs pull, certainly not the deep and compelling story with layers of interesting lore. Destiny is a different class of FPS but the more and more it's being developed, I can't help but notice CoD sneaking and clearly not representing the style of Destiny.

Don't normally comment but I have to agree. It turned me off wanting to watch it. Didn't seem to suit the trailer at all. I guess Activision knows best.

A looming dark lord is coming for our head because we killed his son. And I want to know where the game for that second trailer is holy shit that looks amazing

A 2015 game trailer with a 44 year old song? Every era of music has it's classics but classic rock always works, where would Iron Man be without AC/DC and an album released in 1980? Personaly I'd have the fast bit from Mountain's Nantucket Sleighride or Black Sabbath's Symptom of the Universe in the trailer. Gary Numan's Films would also be awesome. Classics everywhere.

I love the Japanese one. It was hilarious. As I do like the friend type fireteam thing going. The action was cool. But 3 vs Crota, cocky as shit, really? A gods dad is in your face, and you forgot three other team members...good luck. The links of the good advertisement is what it should be. Impending doom, weight of the galaxy on your shoulders, they should stick with the in game music but diff. Make the scenes more believable and add actual darkness in game spreading through the galaxy for whatever it is its supposed to kill us all. Either way they did a good job on graphics, I want a movie. Maybe about Kabr, and his venture to the vault.
