Edit: With the help of all you wonderful Guardians I think I have it all figured out, thanks again!
So my wife plays Destiny on a separate PS4 in the other room. We often play together and both of us are looking forward to The Taken King expansion.
My question is do we both need to purchase it in the PS store or can we just purchase it once and both of us use it in our games?
May sound like a dumb question but we used to could do this type of thing on our PS3 games and their DLC/Expansions.
If not we'll purchase two but if possible it would be great to know.

If you're set as family, then it should work. I know it does for XB1, as my dad and I often play together, but I am unsure if it works with PS4.

You have to put each of you're accounts as the main account for the ps4 so for example if you buy the dlc she will put your account as the main account in her ps4 so she will be able to play the dlc.

Im not sure how this is done but no you dont have to. I have a friend and his brother who both play xbox with me.. lets call them Player 1 and player 2 and ill try explain this.. So player 1 bought an xbox ( xbox 1) and player 2 bought an xbox ( Xbox 2) Player one bought Destiny limited edition (back in year 1) on his xbox (xbox 1) and then he swaped xboxs with his brother.. So Player 1 had xbox 2 and player 2 had xbox 1 Now with all the destiny content on xbox 1 which player 2 now uses player 1 signs into xbox 2 which doesnt have destiny then he downloads all the content onto it. They now both have destiny along with all the content. Very confusing i know and i couldnt believe it works but it does.. this might not be exactly how it works but from what they explained to me this is what ive come to understand.

I know in Xbox , me and my wife are able to use the home xbox feature to only buy things once. Not sure how PS works.

YOU WILL PWOBABWY HAVE TO BUY ANOVA TAKEN KING
-
Whichever account you plan to buy it on has to be the main account on both consoles.
-
Did you purchase 2 for Destiny the first time? If not why now?

i downloaded the first 2 dlcs on my playstation. then a friend loged into my account on her ps3 downloaded the pack from ps store installed it etc then loged off and loged onto hers. shes also interstate. then all i had to do was redownload it and install then we could both play. its pretty simple. sony allows you to have 2 consoles active with all content from 1 psn account. download it once install on both machines and your good to go dude. Goodluck, and may your wife find better loot :P peace!

My wife and I share everything over to accounts my ps4 is upstairs and she plays on that and complete anything that I buy with my account I play downstairs on her ps4 but since I sign in as me I can play everything I bought on my account on her ps4 just basically play on each others ps4 you play on hers she plays on yours

Edited by Flash_Yang: 9/11/2015 2:09:33 AMI think you can download the DLC twice. So the person who bought the dlc has to sign in on the other console and download it. My friend has his cousin that has the expansion pass (dark below and house of wolves) sign in on his console and downloads it and when he signs in his account he gets it. Edit: correct me if im wrong, im new to ps4. Lol

I don't need to buy another on Xbox as I can let my older brother set his Xbox as the main one and he gets everything I get. Vice versa

Since it was technically a patch that brought TTK then no, you can't. Her account would have to download the patch separately, likewise with you. This wasn't really a DLC, they say as much bc you've never really heard of buying a patch
