So, the new ghost is voiced by Nolan North. And when I say "new" ghost, I mean "new" as in the "old" ghost has been ret-conned out of existence. In canon, Dinklebot simply NO LONGER EXISTS - and NEVER HAS.
Now, No Land Beyond is an interesting Exotic Weapon. It is inarguable that it is simply "different," and not quite what many people had come to expect. Some people love it, some people hate it. Most people just feel a little odd about it, and are sort of left wondering: "What's the point?"
In all fairness, I have not fully sampled what Nolan's portrayal has to offer. I have deleted a character so I can start from the very beginning to experience the full force of his version. Thus far I am finding it strange to not hear the familiar deeper tones of Dinklage - the overall tone and pitch reminds me substantially more of 343 Guilty Spark in the somewhat lilting manner of delivery. Not necessarily a bad thing, just my observation. I have only played a single story mission (helped a lower level Guardian on "The Sword of Crota"), but I noticed right away that there IS a difference in delivery of lines. In particular, I noticed the line: "Be careful, its power is dark." Whereas before it was delivered fairly directly as a straight warning, Nolan pauses ever so slightly: "Be careful, its power is... dark." Small change, but if there are enough of those, it may dress a fault that many brought against Dinklebot - that he sounded too flat and monotone, and did not bring enough "life" to the character (a feeling I personally did not share, but opinions will vary).
So - what do you all thing? Nolan Beyond? Is it a clever name? Apologies if I am not the first to think of it, but the comparison made me giggle. Some will love it, some will hate it, most will just find it "different" and wonder what's the point?
