Dinklage was sooooo much better! People moaning that Dinklage underplayed it, but it was subtlety he was playing, as he is an ai ROBOT after all.
I know Nolan makes more sense as its his business and he's more readily available but now it sounds so cheep and over done. He sounds like he's permanently questioning himself. Ha
Peter Dinklage was awesome! If it ain't broke don't fix it!
But all the fussy childish players out there who thought "well it could be better", nagged away endlessly at Bungie, and Dinklage (which pissed me off) until we all get stuck with this shit "performance" (if that's what you wanna call it).
And now all the people who were amongst the bitchy little whine a lots that caused this mess, have realised that they should've been happy with a good thing and not chased after the mythical "perfect".
At least give us a setting to switch between the two voices for year 1 content so we have a choice!!!

Rant over.
EDIT - Wow THANKS for all the support guys!!! This post is blowing up! I had no idea that (near) EVERYONE else felt as strongly about this as me.
Thank you to all Guardians, keep the replies coming and maybe Bungie will add the voice toggle switch so we can have our little Dinklebot back for year one content.
Keep strong and I'll see you star side! =D

Lol and I thought it could only get better lol
-
Aye, aye I have affectionately started call it the Not-Bot.
-
I think he sounds much better than Dinklage. He actually sounds like he gives a darn about his performance, and shows some actual emotion most of the time.
-
Well I think there's a good and bad to both of them. Peter's voice is dull and boring and sounds more like a computer. And Nolans voice always sounds like the ghost is asking a question than making a statement. But the ghost is tiny so the higher pitched and emotion filled voice seems a bit more appropriate. If you ask me, there are some scenes where Dinklage does a better voice and some scenes where Nolan does better.

My boyfriend (Godzclone) just suggested that the announcer for soccer physics should voice him
-
People complain dinklbot was to bad. People complain to bring dinklbot back. There is no pleasing you people.
-
Nolan sounds much better. Can tell he has experience voice acting. Regular actors need to learn that there is a huge difference.
-
HORRIBLE. Blech. We've woken the hive sounds awful! Dinklage sounded alarmed, which makes sense, but the new douche sounds confused. His voice is so high pitched. Please bring back Dinklage...he's worth working around a schedule. Or even traveling to!
-
Nolan doesn't sound like he's in the middle of combat and trying to save the world, it sounds like he just got back from a tea party

I think the captions for "We've woken the hive" should be "We've woken the hive! XD LOL YAY!" What is wrong with this guy? did he not listen to the original voice-over? I understand if they want to give the ghost a new personality, but this actor sounds like he just has no clue what he's reading or what the situation is. I can't believe some of these voice-overs got the thumbs up by whoever was responsible.

Edited by RJIvdB: 9/11/2015 7:00:17 PMI hate to say it, but... yea. Nolan did some excellent voice work, but as your Ghost he sounds pretty awefull. I would love if the Ghost was voiced by Patrick Warburton (as can be heard on www.cheeseandburger.com). :-D

While I get that most people commenting on this are disappointed in the performance of Nolan, many of you are being unreasonable. I see people throwing out "celebrity" names left and right. WHY? They might have great or distinct voices, however they are actors. Actors and voice actors are two totally different things that are not interchangeable. Not to mention the price tags that are associated with actors vs. voice actors. Nolan was sensible choice. He's a voice actor with a proven record who more than likely didn't have the compensatory demands of Dinklage. It made sense to replace Dink. It just might not have been the best choice of a replacement after hear the results. Bunggie clearly understands the concept of picking a solid voice actor for a game, as they have voiced many characters with amazing talent. Hell, they even have the voice of Bender (John DiMaggio) as the gunsmith. Who knows? Maybe with enough whining from players they may change it again. I personally have always found the ghost to be a source of comic relief. That being said I thing a perfect voice over replacement would have been Jon Benjamin. I'm over how peppy he is. I want my robot to understand the gravity of my situation.

Good evening! I usually like to have a little More substance in my writing, but you're on this forum, where it's quite unbalanced with negativity. You're not the only one who thinks the new voice is poor, and you know that. Sorry if I'm being rude! Have a great day! SA

Edited by Orisha Oya: 9/11/2015 5:47:42 PMI will, however, agree that Dinklage's "we've woken the hive" was perfect, but the was a rare gem in the sea of otherwise monotonous voice acting. By large, the voice acting in the game was rather "who gives af" to me, but while most of the other voice actors were victim to under utilization, dinklage didn't deliver to the ability that he proves capable of in game of thrones.
-
I agree - the new ghost voice feels far too "chipper" for the serious nature of the storyline. For me, it breaks the mood and doesn't convey the maturity or focus of the previous voice.
-
Poor sound engineering, less bot sounding more ghost sounding. If they eased up on the bot and gave it more organic it would be much better. Also I'm all for a female ghost option.
-
People only bitched because they wanted cortana. You can't please em unless we would somehow get her. Not everyone's gonna be happy. I was fine with Dinklebot. This new one... Is too cheerful.
-
AGREED! I don't necessarily think the voice is bad but what is horrible is the attention to detail; just watch the video above! "we've awoken the hive" is no longer exciting! complete fail bungie... whoever directed this voice acting scene and approved it should be fired.
-
bump nation good I didn't like him my kids don't like him(as the voice of the ghost). understandable this is what he does for a living he's a professional in his line of work but for this instance dude sounds like the over happy co-worker that you want to punch in the face. the voice he choose to use has a lot more energy then dinkle but he is a floating ai why do I want happy bubbly cornball as the voice of my ghost.
-
I think they over reached when they replaced all the lines. They could have just made getting an new ghost a part of the TTK story line. Then it would have been a little smoother transition. Now all we have done is gone from a ghost with balls to one with out them. I swear the new voice just sounds like a person who got "fixed" and reverted to his preteen voice....
-
I get if people don't like it but is this really that important? Hell I haven't even been able to play since 2.0 launched! And I'm not rioting about it. I'm just gonna be patient and hope it's sorted soon. I haven't even heard the new ghost from my own console, played with test guns, or played a round of rift. And everyone is complaining about these little petty things? I don't think it's priority at least to be complaining about something that doesn't even affect gameplay that much.

A public event initiated when I tried it out. 'Fallen, about to drop on us,' was said the same way you order a Big Mac. It was flat. I think the issue is definitely with Bungie now. Seems they can't direct dialogue for shit.
