Network Problems Advice For All (my personal opinions)
Well I downloaded the update yesterday at 3pm and finished around 9pm or so with it only stopping once on the xbox one. I was playing up until about 3 hours ago when it suddenly booted me out and ive been unable to reconnect since, but i see some of my other friends on it still.
Now i know many of you are still having trouble with getting the update in the first place. My personal opinion is first be sure to use a wired connection if possible cause it is ALWAYS faster than wireless, at the very least have your console as close as you can to the signal source. It somewhat helps the speed by disconnecting or turning off other devices using the connection as well. Then restart both your modem and console and give it plenty of time to completely load and start up and resume the download.
Thats the best i can tell yall for getting the update.
As for connecting to the game afterwards i think its cause since this is the second day the update has been out we are now getting almost every player online at the same time trying to update or play and overloading the servers. Playstation servers i dont think are that powerful but even xbox servers cant take this many players at once. When you have this many players i think the servers are adjusted to having a certain number on at a time (the constant flow of online VS offline or playing other games) I think Bungie looks at these numbers and try to adjust their servers workload on it to maximize connectivity to players at a constant rate. Suddenly having damn near or over half their entire player base on at once just doesnt work well so there will be problems in adjusting the servers and that requires time.
You are not missing anything really huge and important mainly its just the travel layout and mechanics and such, there is still a week till a lot of the content actually activates. Follow my advice and just be patient and let Bungie work on a solution, report your errors like Canary Cattle and so on and find some thing else to focus on for now when you have done all you can.
