DeeJ, I see your point However, the point of this post was to create an environment in which meeting people, making new friends, and forming a clan would be made more easy. As of now, the forums are the best form of clan recruitment. Now, I'm willing to bet not all of the players visit the forums, and I'm willing to bet a good number of those people would like to do the raids. I would love to take a poll for you, but I suppose 0% would answer "I don't visit the forums but wish I could do the raids." What I'm getting at is, you, the people who work at Bungie, want a friendly environment that is inclusive of all people, but you are deliberately excluding those that do not use the forums. I, for one, am very lucky to have a group of friends who are online as often as I am who are always willing to do the raid, and we like finding new people to play with. We enjoy helping new people. GIH would continue to find new members if we met players through the forums and through Optional MM. The only thing that would change, if there was an Optional MM is that clan leaders, such as our leaders, would have more avenues to find and recruit members. That said, GIH does not actively recruit, but a majority of our members are randoms that asked to join. Why the community is likely jumping on this response is the fact that you spoke without thinking critically about what you were saying. I see your logic, but it is flawed. Clans would grow faster, more friends would be made, and in turn, more players would enter raids in closed, handpicked, fireteams if there were optional matchmaking, because the easier it is to make friends and build a clan, the more friends you would have online at any given time. Suppose you're one short for a raid, go to matchmaking find one random person, and interact with them. They would get invited to the party, just because finding them is made easier doesn't mean the raid requires less communication. They turn out to be a really good player and/or they fit in well with the group, but they're a casual player who never thought to use the forums. That person just made 5 new friends and a regular raiding group to play with. The current system doesn't force people to make friends, it actually creates a barrier. I mean no disrespect, just trying to offer helpful feedback.
