Destiny.
Ever since day zero, yes, zero, you heard that right (The beta) I've been a huge fan of this up-in-coming game. Whether it was leveling up my character and feeling like a proud father watching his kid grow up, or just seeing what great treasure awaited me in the mission after the last, I've always had a passion for this game. I remember, to this day, going on my very first endeavor as a guardian. At first, I had no idea about this game, 'nor did I ever even hear about it. My friend however, knew everything there was to know about it for he had played the beta before me, told me it was amazing, so I went ahead and gave it a whirl. Little did I expect to become an addict of my own. Soon enough I was slaying dreg and thralls like no other. I had fallen in love with the game. I myself was too young to make my own source of cash so I had to do enough chores to Acquire enough of the green stuff for the Destiny Collector's edition. Sure enough, I did. I made sure to have cleared every other plan I had the day it came in the mail. As soon as I saw the package, I flew upstairs and started it up immediately. Boom. Update. I had to wait but the wait surely enough was worth it for I was completing quests in the blink of an eye. Several weeks had passed when I heard about this new event that took such a crazy amount of players to finish. The VoG (Vault of Glass). An event said to hold great treasures.. I heard nothing more after that.. The first time I did the raid was so intense I could not believe how well thought out it was. Sadly, I was the rookie of the group. My friend however, I envied for he had a so-called, "Exotic" item. My friend had so many items, It made me want to get to his standing point. So I did. Everyday after school it was just pure raids, normal mode, hard mode, reset, again, normal mode, hard mode. Sadly, my luck.. Wasn't the best.. My friends would always get exotics while I'd get material. Material was great and all.. But material can't take the head off of a goblin. It had been months and I still somehow never acquired an exotic! I got pretty depressed, but I pushed on. It had to have been my 5,133,132,235th bounty when I finally got what seemed to be too good to be true, an exotic weapon bounty.
How could this be? I've only heard legends of such amazing bounties!
I'd say to myself. So I tried it. Took me about 2 days but I managed to complete it and acquired the exotic.. (Drum roll please) the Bad Juju! No..? Nothing..? Yeah, back then it wasn't so amazing, but to me it was so shh! My luck had some how magically turned upside down, exotics were pouring from the sky, I felt so happy to have acquired so many. I have now surpassed my friends from school in Destiny. It had been about half a year into the game when I heard about a new legendary exotic, said to take down bosses in mere seconds. A beast that spits pure fire and destruction. I was intrigued.
Only the luckiest of guardians can and have acquired it.
witnesses would say but never had I ever seen one? The Gjallarhorn, was its name, a rocket everyone wanted for its untamed power and pure strength. I was now writing this monster of an exotic down on my "Wishlist" for this year. As time went on, I had acquired more powerful loot, met new friends, and slayed new bosses in the expansion packs. However.. Never did I acquire the Gjallarhorn.. My mind had been boggled,
Is this a prank from Bungie?
I'd ask myself, but it wasn't.. It was just my horrendous luck.. One day, almost a year into Destiny, my friend asked me to help him in defeating the Son of Oryx, Crota. A fierce and powerful enemy that I had slayed many times, but could never get tired of doing it, so of Course, I accepted his invite. It was the usual, kill things, reload, run, kill things, reload, die, get revived, run, kill things, reload. Same old, same old. When we got to Crota, however, it was never the same. There were always random things happening on when fighting Crota, it was like a reality show. Once, Crota's fully healed to the max right at the end, and we all died. Yeah, anyone who has ever fought Crota knows the feeling of failure. (P.S. It's not fun.) this time however, was actually pretty chill, we all knew our jobs well, and we all played our cards right. When it came down to the last swing, the loud cry of Crota could be heard and then.. That tiny bit of time in waiting for your reward feed to show.. Amongst the feed I had seen, "Gjallarhorn" in its distinct gold letters
Congrats to whoever got the Gjallarhorn
I'd say, knowing my luck, it probably wasn't mine. I decided to take a look at the names.. I dropped my controller and shouted amongst the rooftops, my name! Right there in green letters! Me! Not my friend, not his friend, Me! For the first time in almost a year, I had gotten the Gjallarhorn! Everyone congratulated me with warm arms, not some raging 12 year old saying he hates campers like in COD (no offense, I play it too). I've come a long way since those times, I may not be the best guardian in the crowd, but I am a noticeable one.
Thanks for Reading this, I know it's pretty long, but these are just some short stories of my first year in Destiny.
Can't wait for what year two has to offer.
