As we know, fusion rifles are the least used special weapon type in Destiny. Fusion rifles were a very good, borderline OP weapon type until they were nerfed. Ever since then, the weapon has become obsolete, and useless, which is sad because it is such a cool concept to have an energy weapon. In the weapon rebalancing notes in Update 2.0, we all expected a significant buff, something that will stand a chance against shotguns, but we were hit with very little adjustments, and a slight nerf!? Suggesting a PVE oriented base damage buff to make them a legitimate option for AI ass-kicking.
Please help bring attention to a dying weapon type in Destiny.

I have to agree with you, fusion rifles need to be buffed in some way... Personally, I think Fusion Rifles should be re-imagined to be a weapon with a ttk in crucible rather than a hit/miss 1 shot since shotguns and snipers dominate that field. Maintaining it's charge theme, I would take it a bit further by making each piece of ammunition fire a sustained beam for a short duration that deals significant damage over that period, requiring players to charge again once that piece of ammo is used up (canceling the beam by letting go of trigger would use up the ammo too). This blast would be capable of killing someone in crucible quickly if you can keep your target for a fair portion of the duration, this determined by impact/charge time; slower-to-charge fusions killing a bit faster than the quicker chargers, excluding Plan C of course. Apply some balancing like giving the beam a travel time and I think this weapon would achieve it's goal of being the mid-range Special weapon. Vex Mythoclast and Queenbreaker's Bow would need to remain unchanged probably (though I think Vex needs to have the shot-spread nerf removed). The new exotic that shoots the sticky/explosive rounds would necessarily have to remain the way it is said to be, but since it's exotic that makes sense.
