In the simplest terms, they are shape-shifting space dragons from the Void that enhance your ego to astronomical levels. They are in no way extinct. The bones on Young Ahamkara's Spine, Skull of Dire Ahamkara, Claws of Ahamkara, and Bones of Eao are all actually Ahamkara that have disguised themselves as their own bones. How else would the bones move?
