What is the point of the "feedback" forum? What purpose if any does it serve?
Recently I read from Cozmo that this forum is for us, the players, to have a voice. And here we are, talking. Talking to Bungie and talking to each other.
There seem to be three groups in the feedback forum. Those who give constructive criticism, those who spout hate, and those who are so loyal they have nothing negative to say about the game or bungie.
The first group, those who give constructive criticism, play the game and see that it isn't perfect. And because they want the game to be better or would like to see improvements made, they take the time to sit down and write out their ideas in an effort to communicate with Bungie.
Some times it works. Vault space was increased because the community asked for it. Buffs and nerfs keep happening because they are listening. Improvements to the UI may or may not be a direct result of community feedback.
And yet this group is under attack by the second group, haters. When I say "under attack", I simply mean haters coming to posts with constructive criticism and spouting hate at the OP and anyone who agrees with them.
For haters, there is no middle ground. You're either with them or you're with Bungie. I've seen well written articulate posts dismissed outright because the OP dared to suggest that Destiny was worth playing despite flaws.
In the hate filled dismissal, the hater usually accuses the OP of being a "desticle" or fanboy. They suggest that any further support of the game is a useless gesture and the only true way to see improvements is to boycott the game altogether.
Haters live in a self induced fantasy world filled with a delusional sense of self importance where they are the center of the universe. They feel that if we would just do as they asked, things would go exactly as they say it will.
What they fail to realize is this simple truth. Destiny isn't going anywhere. It is, and continues to be, a successful game. There are so many players that aren't on these forums. People who enjoy logging in, playing, and logging out. They don't read the forums or have any idea what is being said here.
But the haters want you to believe that Destiny is in trouble and that if we boycott the taken king, we will soon be reading news on IGN or elsewhere that Destiny is no more. That activision pulled the plug and Bungie is suffering massive layoffs.
Sorry haters, that's not going to happen. It's simply unrealistic. Destiny is a juggernaut, like it or not. Edit: http://m.ign.com/articles/2015/09/17/destiny-the-taken-king-is-playstations-most-downloaded-day-one-game-ever?utm_source=IGN%20hub%20page&utm_medium=IGN%20(front%20page)&utm_content=1&utm_campaign=Blogroll
Which leads me to the third group, those who blindly support the game without ever speaking negatively about it.
If you aren't willing to see things for what they are and make suggestions on how to improve them, then you're not helping make the game you love better. You're telling the developer that you're happy with the game as is. And if that's the case, why should they ever make improvements?
One of these groups serves a purpose, the other two do not.
If we are to make a difference, it is clear that constructive criticism is the only effective way to achieve that goal. Hatred or blind loyalty achieve nothing.
So to all of those who don't offer constructive criticism, you can continue to beat your collective heads against the wall, or you can join us and open a dialogue with the developer in order to help us improve our experience with Destiny.
The choice is yours.

I enjoy destiny and playing with my clan is great.. But this game has had issues from the beginning and people feel cheated by the lack of content, lies, and the continual charge of money for DLC content that was originally vanilla Destiny, or actually removes content.. I would love to see Destiny built to the glory it could be, but I believe it may be too late.. With Activision at the helm and Bungie looking to pad to the 500 plus million they have already made.. I feel we will get the bare bones over the next 9 years.. Or just enough to bring people in just to have the same disappointing outcome... This game could have been the game that changed the industry, which frustrates guardians... People would have thrown money at the screen because the game would have been epic.. Alas I don't see this ever happening because of the money involved... I want Destiny to be the best game I have ever played, But in life, we don't always get what we want, and sometimes we get disappointed.. As much as I don't want to say it.. I think this is one of those times In life I look back and say.. "Damn it could have been awesome... But it turned out to be a disappointment... I hope I am wrong on this... But hope is not a strategy.. And I am running out of patience..

Bungie and Activision are pos companies. Totally run by greed. No preorder for me. Waiting for results first.

Good post, and I think a fairly accurate account of different types, but... IMHO, it is a type of profiling that is not completely accurate. I myself, sometimes write very "negative" post on things about Bungie, and a couple well known employees. But... I play the game, and have had a lot of fun; the fun has diminished, but still enough that I still do play. But I won't apologize for my negative posts - and I do not use foul language like a lot of people use, but I do believe they do deserve harsh criticism for things that they have done, and seem to be continuing to do. Yet when I read a post from someone that still likes playing and still supports Bungie, I will answer their posts. Never condemning them, unless they are do that themselves, but politely and I do have empathy and let them know that not everyone is going to send hateful messages. Personally, I can't stand trolls. There have been a few times where a post sounded like a troll, and I would respond, and it ended up being a very decent conversation where we both ended up being able to have an amenable discussion. I do agree with you about some that have a false reality thinking that they can get Bungie to fall apart, but I am aware that (even my own embargo) will not put them out of business. But my aspirations would be that there were enough that would embargo the next DLC, that they would have to at least sit up and take notice enough to make some positive changes. I really never expect them to crash and burn, nor do I really want them to, all I would like is to not have a paywall, where I can no longer play things that I felt that I have already paid for, and they are taking it away. Furthermore, I wouldn't mind if certain people were no longer placed into the limelight, simply because I think that their attitudes are too pompous and show signs of real arrogance, which I think are wrong for any business to display towards its clients. But, I am not asking for them to be fired, just to either change the attitude that they portray, or give them something else to do where we are not (can not be) disobliged by tactless remarks.

I'm sorry to be the one to break this to you, but Destiny is not a juggernaut and is in trouble. With a player base rapidly disappearing with each add on, its hard to take this seriously. Bungie has their core fans who will buy anything with the Bungie name on it, but if this game continues on the path of over market, over hype and under deliver it won't make it passed the sequel. That's not hate, that's simply a reality like it or not. Good post.

The game is a solid shooter and is fun until the 20 hours of gameplay are repeated with no real reward, story or further activities to engage in without buying Destiny 2, TTK. I remember reading an article in game informer months before it came out describing this massive social game. Hell, you can't even talk to the other players because no one finds it worth the time to switch from lone wolf mic to megaphone. I've spent about 100 on this game to get another chopped up Activision game like CoD. If there were a little content and a story it would be great. There is such potential but it falls short of what it should be. I find that to be disappointing. The worse part is its halfway to being a solid game but should already have been when it came out...

Edited by Northern Border: 10/12/2015 12:40:09 AMFor the haters, it's simple: it is easier to write off any other opinion than theirs as idiocy, because it makes them feel good about their viewpoint. It's sad really, that people can't respect other and how they feel, thus an insult is deemed ok. Allow me to open myself up to said criticisms: - I love the 2.0 update for PvE and PvP. I love seeing a variety of guns in a variety of situations. I also appreciate the subtle nuances of how each gun fires and handles. My Paleocontact and Fabian force me to play and shoot different with skill. Thumbs up - I love the new strikes, but wish the playlist included the older ones as well, with updated loot tables based on my level/light level. - I believe that the Eververse emotes will add a bit of fun to the game and look forward to it. I also am looking towards the next expansion. Not because I'm bored with TtK, but the lore and direction involved finally have Destiny on the right track. Haters- please hate on. #Deej #Cozmo

Bump. This about sums up the state of the forums.

Oldy but goody

Bump. Nice post and pretty accurate diagnosis of this place. But you're dealing with factions, only one of which has an agenda of improving the game....and are operating from Reason. The others are working from anger, self-absorption, and entitlement. The other from fear.

Destiny IS a juggernaut!

The only problem becomes that many of those who believe that they are offering constructive criticism, are actually doing nothing but offering thinly veiled hate and vitriol. And because it's barely disguised, these people quickly rise to the top of the community's favorite users, even when these people are actually doing nothing but merely repeating what the rest of the community is saying. These people do it so often that they're elevated to an almost god like status, to the point that they not only garner a following, but when one of them gets banned suddenly the rules no longer apply to them and their followers flood the feedback forums with petitions to unban them. And the person even admitted that the banning was just! But to their cult, that didn't matter. They continued to flood the forums for the next week. As far as fanboys go, a lot of people are labeled such when they aren't fanboys. I myself have been labeled one many times, even when I acknowledge the fact that Destiny/Bungie/Activision are flawed simply because I defend many of the games better qualities, or because I point out when someone uses an argument that is either factually wrong or employs a logical fallacy of some sort. And the fact of the matter is that the game is never going to improve become what we all want it to be if the community is against itself in this way. A house divided against itself cannot stand. And we are no exception.

Edited by Unforgiven: 9/8/2015 9:07:07 AMI personally take a conservative stance. When Bungie does something I don't like I let them know. But some of the posts that have Bungie hate are just flat out wrong or mis-quoting articles incorrectly. My recommendation is to use your judgement and do your own research. And to pay attention to whats happening in Destiny and Destiny News both on this website and on Gaming News Sites. If you do those things, over time you can easily tell bullshit from real information.
-
Very well put. Cheers brother.

Nice say OP, bump
-
Bump This is a very well thought out post

Finally someone said it.

Some people used to give constructive feedback but have run of patience because it's so hard to make a change that way. I can't blame them.

part 1 (too long^^) ok, time to tell you something now that might let you awake from the deep slumber you have fallen to... we are here now, here at forum of destiny, a game that never was what was advertised...a game many consider even today of being nothing than a beta, a game that never came along with something usual for any game, a story...a game, forged in chaos, broken, definitely far away from being a finished product...even not finished now, one year and 2 dlc's later... for everyone who bought this game when it got first released, it didn't needed a genius to realize the many flaws it had and as unfortunately this is the gaming-world we live in today, having mostly 'unfinished' games served at releases, having the consumer taking part of a beta-gamer to save expenses, calling destiny a beta, is very bland and has more of making a compliment, rather than telling the uncovered truth... when it was released, now without mentioning all the lies told before, all the things advertised, just to realize they not in game, ppl loved the gameplay and started to give it time...after all these guardians started to fall to the RNG, playing over and over to get this one item, be it whatever, fate, BH, IB and with a gun implemented, the gjallarhorn, that became the unicorn, the one thing everyone tried to get, chasing it like it was the goddamn el-dorado, these guardians were 'taken' and the grinding was real! first, all loved this game, playing it day and night, spending hours over hours in it, chasing this one unicorn, so that it didn't mattered that this game had flaws...who -blam!-ing cares? gimme my -blam!-ing gally you pr*cks! that was enough for many to play this game for many hours....cosmodrone up and down, down and up, right to left, left to right, who cares, i want that -blam!-ing loot! but well, after some time, all this ppl, mostly those who got ripped off by RNG, started to get dissatisfied...what the hell i am doing here? did i really run that -blam!-ing cosmodrome now for over 1000 hours? was it all that i have done? omg...but ok, -blam!- it, no time to think, need to kick RNG's butt... but by time, even the hardest grinder, the most obsessed started slowly to realize that the magic this game had, started slowly to fade away...the curtain hiding all the ugliness becoming more and more transparent, the beauty that overlayed this ugliness slowly vanishing...ppl slowly starting to realize all the flaws, realizing that this open world actually has nothing to do with anything, but open and for the hardcore-pessimistics maybe giving more the feeling of a cage...many guardians started to realize, some sooner, some later, some unfortunately never... so there we are, now even the last of us knowing about this narrownesses in game... some starting to open threads at feedback-forum...i waould love to see this, love to see that! everything bigger, more open, more and more of everything yeah! but what did we got? 2 dlc's! what did we got? new locations? new enemies? new anything? hmm...i guess the answer is no...simply as that....No^^ and now, with the taken walletking coming, it gets even better, we get LESS! yea, great, LESS! and all this LESS for only $40 lol^^ you know guys, don't need me to tell you that this game is what it was meant to be...a game forged in chaos, by the darkness itself...having all its white knights pushed away...a game forged in chaos, the darkness trying nevertheless keeping the machinery running, a game forged with total cluelessness...what to say, when its masters first make changes, just to neutrilizing them after again? (see the dark below'd)...announcing nerfs on guns, just to tell then this guns will be useless lol, the same time the taken walletking is already knocking at the door? stupidity in its purest form? or simply absolute cluelessness? so, with this facts not disregarding, does truly anyone believes that this time things will get better? truly? or maybe now simply entering destiny beta 3.0...(as i believe that this crap with exotics pre-TDB and then 'fixed' by xur can easily be named as 2.0^^) so, they truly learned of their mistakes in the past? with as already mentioned, announcing nerfs 2-3 months before this "new" aera, just to contradict theirselves within only a few weeks? welcome to neverland my friends^^ but, you know what, that's ALL not even worth mentioning, because you know, this only affects y1 kinderguardians and the ONLY truth is (and now a free red pill for everyone^^) activegreed'sbungievision DOES NOT WANT YOU! yes, they don't want you know why? because you already gave them your money, played a game THEY KNEW you will get bored off and fed up and now want siply to get rid off you! honest question, i truly mean HONEST and here ask yourself! with one year gone and 2 dlc's, what exactly NEW did you got? answer this for yourselves... as what i know from activision, you can definitely believe me, i know them well!!! being with them since CoD 4 all over to CoD AW, where they finally managed to freeze me out, i know one thing for sure! activi = many many many $$$ = smallest and less effort...so the truth is, NOTHING changes...NEVER you'll get all the things you dream of...N-E-V-E-R !!! but does activi cares if you realize? no! simple as that...right, you not wanted anymore...make place now for the new aera with new guardians! not as sick, as fed up, as lush as you, but hungry! HUNGRY! hungry to throw money at the screen, fresh money! who needs all the dissatisfied, pi**ed ppl anymore^^ this is the truth guardians...sad, but imho the truth... this game was nothing else than meant to be addictive! everything in game, every decision made by the officials, made, to make this game ADDICTIVE!!! that's why nothing changes! OP, you mentioned the "successes" we had here in forum...bigger vault space woooooowww...what a success...this m8, after ONE YEAR! after they take EVERYTHING you grinded like a junkie for away! nearly NEVER EVER any communication by this well-known CM, a help/support forum that NEVER EVER helped! as i can tell, till now never got the tumbler i should have gotten, sony offering me to cancel my EP, what i didn't agreed too (-blam!- it!), while from bungie NEVER EVER even ANY response!!! never experienced anything like that, a lack of EVERYTHING at any game i played and visited forum, so yes, bigger vault space AFTER ONE BLAMING YEAR, a "patch" for guns, that has more of a terminator-character rather than fixing anything, with dlc a story (although doubt that good) after one year, what should have been in game from beginning for pete's sake! yea, what a SUCCESS!!! here we are now, y1 vets and sry, but now want to give my own picture of us a try.... 1st we have the lemmings...mowstly casuals, playing here and there, no care for anything...+ 2nd the dissatisfied, the pi**ed, the angry, the ugly...some of them (if not before, then definitely now) full of hate, some too pi**ed to still post cool comments...but NOT always unjustified... 3rd the beatiful...the ones everyone loves, found in groups, bounded, one for all, all for one, making everything sound nice, even the ugly stuff... 4th same as third but actually making good points.... among this 4 you still can split them again...the ones awoken from deep slumber, moving away...the ones, same as before, but still hope things get better, but if no signs, moving away, wallet still closed...then, those, that are pi**ed, criticizing, trying to find a dialogue with devs, always nice, who knows with what result, wallet closed/open, however... before comming to my last point want to add something...mentioned before that we never got any communication between us and devs...we all know it...deej, forget him...me, personally, would love to say that cozmo (yea like this guy) could be the real deal...and believe he would or is, but with all allready mentioned before, that's the problem...cozmo, unlike the ones before or devs or whatever, isn't a corporation guy, he's one of us, a gamer..you can see he cares, he tries...really appreciate it, but sry, when i doubt that he can change anything...as much i started to respect him, he's still only a small cogwheel in this big machinery forged and under control by the darkness :( so, have my doubts., sry :(

Edited by suggestedpigeon: 9/7/2015 5:56:04 PMMy favorite are the "God these people will whine about anything" "If you don't like it don't play it" crowd. Because they directly benefit from the changes that we ask for and yet continue to harp on every constructive criticism thread. Like if it weren't for us you'd still be running in circles for hours getting spirit bloom.
-
First I was loyal to destiny. Turned to constructive criticism after 2.0 was announced. The news over the last month or so has made a lot of us hate bungie.
-
It's hard to have a dialogue when it feels like a one-sided conversation. There are plenty of questions that Bungie has not commented on that I would love to see. The big elephant in the room to me is the pricing outside the United States. Why should they have to pay the price of a full retail game for an expansion? The list goes on.

Edited by Empire of Nine: 9/7/2015 1:31:07 PMWith all due respect I post lots of "ideas" that alot of ppl like on avg but dont support or someone else has thought of it before hand and there is a thread already made for it. BUT!! at the same time I paid for a finished product not a continued mmo. I paid for an FPS with mmo characteristics (borderlands style) but in all honesty have had to continue to "report" problems and come up with possible solutions!! Im no longer a consumer at the end of that statement I am a video gamer tester and paying to be one. Honestly if I would stop video comment what and how every single pathing issue the game has I would want to be paid because that is work. those that comment here have done that work but dont post it, most of us just let it go n play for fun. At the end of the day destiny will still be around yes but these haters spamm every important post to drown it all out and leave nothing but the poop they are made of behind. as OP mentioned if you dont like destiny either make a post as to stating why you dont like it and how to fix or leave personally i went from destiny junkie (its life) to meh (friends bugg me to play) all because of the flaws posted in past post. so in finale i ask.... of all the things i want in destiny the more i want is nightvision like in halo reach cause the ghost lights up less then my bic

Edited by Octopus: 9/7/2015 6:32:00 PMpart 2: you know, played many games in my life, gamer 100%...played fallout, skyrim, mgs, re, so many games...played games where you could feel the love of the devs at every corner in their game...saw dlc's comming, giving you stuff that blew you away, lets you think, wow, what a great game, dlc with new content with more to explore, more to get lost in, feeling you would freely throw more money on the screen to get more of it, feeling the creativity...with destiny feel there's nothing like that...sometimes felt do always the same, realized how addictive it made me, felt weak, when realized how it was pure addiction keeping me in game...honestly, is there much in it? i guess no...but items (which i already have all btw now) were waiting...but until now still hoping, as even me, a big criticizer can't deny its superb gameplay, the potencial that it has, what it could be...but sometimes, when i see what there is, sadly realize what IS isn't much :( still tried to love it and then have bungie with shocking moments after shoking moments...nerfing everything i started to love, then TAKING away everything i started to love :( came to the point that we vets are unwanted...this game was made by less effort, not much new to come...nothing anymore for vets...but enough for any fresh guardian activi could drag into their darkness, fresh money and fresh guardian hunger... so to you op, maybe you right, maybe you wrong....but if i'm right, then you maybe too one of those blind followers...if i'm right then you one of those that activi deems worthy to stay with them...knowing all the crap, but still open the wallet.. to me, even the moment i write this i realized, i may not, so realized time to move away...sometimes maybe take a look for changes or not... to all those who take their time reading this...this wasn't well-thought-out, but directly written as i felt like, so pls excuse any bad grammar etc...also for my bad english...maybe could be i'm totally wrong, maybe some agree...however, everyones opinion's worth, so thx for allowing me mine ,) peace out to all guardians out there! edit: with my bad english, having only a handful words to try to put alll my expressions into was already hard and maybe doesn't express exactly what i would say when written in my mothers language, so pls excuse...but nevertheless hope that somehow ppl get an idea of my point...thx edit 2: want to mention again what i already did before...although you might doubt it op, respect the way you try on this case, although somehow believe that it's maybe also some of the addiction already mentioned, keeping you in game, however...point is, that with this tactic you could be 99% right at any other forum, any othe devs and publisher...but you here not dealing with any common company, but with the darkness itself...there are no compromisses, it's eat or die! look at mentioned successes for ONE YEAR and you'll get the proof...it's only pay to stay or move away...nothing you can win m8, with the only option for dissatisfaction a close wallet...and sry, as said before, i maybe wrong and time will tell, when saying that destiny's future never will be as bright as many hope for it to be....not with this pll in charge that only proved lies until now...empty phrases and betrayal on their community... p.s. i truly hope that i'm wrong with everything said...

My constructive criticism is for Bungie to stop lying to the fan base and give us the content we paid for and never ever got.
