I was wondering if someone, perhaps from Bungie can answer this.
I saw that the Taken King releases at 2AM PST which I understand since that the is the normal reset time for the week. However, I was wondering how that might work with physical copies of the game. I live in the Eastern Time Zone, so I doubt that Gamestop will be open around 5AM for me to pick up my Collectors Edition copy. My thinking was that you could maybe get the physical copy at midnight and install it to be ready for 5AM when the game goes live.
Otherwise, it just seems like digital purchasers will be the ones playing at the time the game goes live and people who ordered physical copies will have to wait for their respective stores to open on the 15th.

Well I'm not sure if gamestop will do a midnight release but I'd imagine they will. As far as the download tho, there shouldn't be any download on the 15th. The download is the 8th. It wasn't until recently that I realized DLC already exist on our systems. I logged in from a friend's xbox who only had vanilla destiny, and as soon as I downloaded the expansion pack key, it unlocked DLC content. The regular updates are when they load the DLC onto our systems. The actual owning of the DLC is simply a code that unlocks what they've already made you download. So even those who don't buy TTK will have it downloaded onto their system on the 8th. Once u put in the code to own it, it un locks at 2 am PST.

Why not just wait a few hours? Lol

Phone the game stores around your area and see if they are doing a midnight release. It varies from store to store. Some might be doing it.

You get TTK on the 15th. Raid drops 2 am on the 18th. You got 3 days to pick up TTK physical copy before raid starts

The physical copy brings all of destiny including the expansions, thats available at midnight you can play all of it as normal, taken king will then be available a few hours later so no biggie
