• Oh well. In an argument, the person who's making the argument and their attributes are completely irrelevant to the argument that they're making. An ad hominem is often used as a diversionary tactic to make an otherwise sound argument look bad.

 • Let me know when you turn 18. Until then learn the proper definition of ad hominem

 • The Latin definition of Ad Hominem means to the man or argument to the man. It's when you try to discredit your opponent's argument by casting doubt on their character. You're using the terms "liberal" and "lost cause" as a way to try to discredit Max's argument by making him look bad. Even if Max is a liberal and is a lost cause, how is that relevant to the argument that Max is making and it's specific points?

 • Because mad max is an idiot that is incapable of seeing past it's liberal ideology. It's all completely part of the argument

 • No, it isn't. Even an idiot can give you wisdom. Try refuting Max's argument instead of labeling him and casting doubt on his character. It should be super easy to refute his argument anyways, right?

 •
She works for the government. As such, the 14th Amendment states that all people must be treated equally under the law. Denying gays marriage licenses violates that.
You should address this...
Disagreeing and discrimination are different things.
...and this.

 • What if you were in a position that all of a sudden required you to completely violate your personal beliefs? Bet your opinion changes real quick

 • Completely violate my beliefs Eh? In Christianity you can simply ask forgiveness

 • If I was truly forced to do the thing that violates my hypothetical religious beliefs then that would be unconstitutional. A clerk can always resign and I would resign or quit if my job required me to do something against my beliefs.

 • I highly doubt that

 • If I was religious then I would value pleasing my god over keeping my job. Anyone who cares more about keeping their job doesn't really care about their god.

 • I'm a smart guy so I would realize that it's both illegal and not doing my job if I didn't hand out these marriage licenses. If I thought it was a sin to do that then I'd rather be jobless than openly sin against my god. Anyone who is in that position should really just quit.
