My opinion on the new melee weapons

Pretty damn cool but doesn't anyone else think its kind of stupid you aren't allowed an unlimited amount of melee attacks? I mean really? Why do I need ammo for a MELEE WEAPON? It feels kind of counter-intuitive to give you a limited amount of swipes. I mean, you have to get close up to deal damage and you're putting yourself at risk. With melee weapons, its a situation of high risk/high reward... why penalize melee weapon users by giving them a terribly small amount of attacks before they need ammo again? Really, Bungie? You have cool ideas but you don't really seem to think them through when implementing them. I don't see these weapons being really good in PVP when you'll just get blown up by people with rocket launchers and machine guns. They might be good in PvE but I don't see why anyone would want to use them when I can use something like that Sleeper Simulant gun which looks like it melts through bosses. I can use that at a safe distance too! Discuss. EDIT: WHY DON'T WE HAVE PRIMARY SWORDS/MELEE WEAPONS? Something less powerful than the heavy versions but ones you can use at all times?

  • Because anything less powerful than a melee weapon used in the heavy/special slot would most likely be useless. You'd most likely be ripped to shreds in PvP, since you can't one-hit in PvP (In a primary slot), and you'd be ripped to shreds in PvE because of obvious reasons. Melee weapons really only have a place being powerful, limited weapons. Otherwise, you might as well use your fists (Although, it would be nice if you could aesthetically change your fist to a melee weapon. No damage boost, just cosmetic).

  • The were limited in Halo so they will be limited here. No debate or argument thats that, it's final.

  • Gotta be limited. They deal major damage. Unlimited would make it all too easy.

    • Think about it though, it's an energy based weapon and if there's no energy then it's just a slog of useless metal. With energy it's a lot more powerful; that energy could be the weaponised part and it's the discharge of that energy that causes damage

Look at the damage it was doing. It's a heavy weapon that does heavy weapon damage. That's the same thing as saying you want unlimited Gjallarhorn rockets. (You can't have them)

        • The swords are meant to deal incredible damage at the cost of high risk to use, as well as limited use. Previous bungie games have had melee weapons (sword and hammer) limited by energy charge (ammo).

Swords without ammo = Shitty new meta. No one would use their primary, way to ruin pvp. The sword in Halo had something like 4 hits at full energy and it was balanced and people used them.
