TTK buying decision

Is The Taken King worth $40? Bungie hasn't been clear about what they are doing with Year 2, so let me explain it as best I can. All of the new missions, strikes, crucible maps, the new raid, public events on the Dreadnought, and TTK only armor and weapons are reserved for people who purchase The Taken King. This is like the premium tier for year 2. The 2.0 update with its new quest system, weapon infusion, Year 2 versions of exotics, gunsmith leveling, and new weapons and armor go into effect whether or not you buy The Taken King. Basically, all players benefit from the 2.0 update whether they buy the DLC or not. This is like the freemium tier for Year 2 except that you have to buy the base game so it's not really free. The not so freemium tier will also have less content in Year 2 than Year 1. Bungie says you need to defeat Oryx to play the daily and weekly challenges in Year 2, which means no more daily missions, Nightfall strikes, weekly heroic strikes, or daily PvP playlists for vanilla "Destiny". Bungie should really clarify this, because if true, anyone who doesn't buy The Taken King will probably quit "Destiny" players forever. As a purchasing decision, should you include the 2.0 update with the all of the new content in The Taken King? Yes, you should. Bungie isn't working on improving vanilla "Destiny" for free, and we players are better served when a developer has as incentive to improve their product. For example, I pay for Evernote because I like the freemium features and I also want the premium features. Evernote is a huge success. I loved Google Reader enough to pay for it, but there was no way to pay for it. Google pulled the plug because Google Reader had no way of making money. So if The Taken King has a good reception, I will eventually buy it because of all the content it offers and all of the improvements in the 2.0 update. You may wonder why I don't just pre-order The Taken King now. For now, The Taken King looks like over-priced DLC and I won't pay for over-priced DLC that will make all of my Year 1 gear obsolete. #saveourexotics You see, I hate grinding for weapons especially when I finally have all the weapons I like. That's a personal issue of mine. If you enjoy grinding, then The Taken King will have plenty of grinding for you. I still recommend waiting for reviews before buying The Taken King because $40 is a lot of money for a DLC.
